The new discovery of immunomodulatory mechanism is helpful to the development of immunotherapeutic drugs

        Qiu Yanlin section chief of the medical research department of Far Eastern Memorial Hospital cooperated with the three armed forces general hospital and international scholars of Johns Hopkins University in the United States to study the multifunctional regulation mode of immune cells. It was found that activating Wnt information transduction pathway is helpful to improve the versatility of T cells, and PRMT1 molecule, which plays a key role in activating Wnt information transduction pathway, can be used as the target of T cell immunotherapy. This study was published in the international top research journal Journal Journal of clinical investigation, which provides more research directions for immune regulation and immune enhancement.

        The immune system is composed of B cells, T cells and neutrophils. When the virus invades the body, the immune system starts immediately and cooperates to resist the virus. Qiu Yanlin section chief said that because T cells express diverse cytokine responses at the same time, they can play a key role in the control of virus infection and start the human immune response through the versatility of cells. Moreover, the multifunctional molecular regulation mechanism of T cells is similar to that of stem cells. If the Wnt information transduction pathway is further activated, it will also help to improve the versatility of T cells.

        This study directly uses human T cells and common viruses for immune response analysis, which is different from other studies using animal models, so it is more conducive to the research and development of follow-up immune drugs. It is worth noting that although Wnt signal transduction pathway plays a key role in disease prevention and immunotherapy, Qiu section chief believes that more in-depth research and clinical trial verification are still needed in order to make more contributions to the treatment of improving immunity.
