The Far East Architecture Award has entered its 24th year and continues to advocate architectural breakthrough and innovation. This year, Mr. Xu Yuan Ze University Foundation and Far Eastern Department Stores specially invited the security palace in DALONGDONG, the Confucius Temple in Taipei City and the Cultural Assets Preservation Society of the Republic of China to jointly organize the "Far East Architecture Award -- historic site visit month". There were nearly 600 places for eight activities, which were fully occupied within three days after the opening.
The first "lecture on historical buildings" and the "guided walk" of Bao'an palace and Confucius Temple were held at Bao'an Palace on August 6. Both far eastern group Douglas Hsu and Far Eastern Department Stores Nancy Hsu president attended the event. In his speech, Douglas Hsu thanked Liao Wuzhi, chairman of Bao'an palace, Mr. Li ganlang, chief consultant of the event, lecturers Professor Zhou Zongxian, Professor Li Qingzhi and Mr. Lin Jiashu. At the same time, he stressed that although far east architecture award was committed to improving urban landscape and architectural culture, it also hoped that everyone would know more about the history of the local city. Therefore, he began to try to organize historical site visits. Douglas Hsu also predicted that this year's Far East Architecture Award activities will continue. Next September, famous historical architecture experts and scholars will be invited to participate in the forum. In 2023, "historical architecture school and guide" will be moved to Banqiao Linjia garden in New Taipei.
In order to promote architectural culture, the Confucius Temple in Taipei and the Bao'an palace in DALONGDONG, which has a history of more than 250 years, were selected as the first stops of the "historic site visit month". Although the literary splendor of DALONGDONG in the past was difficult to regain, the exquisite culture and art of the Bao'an palace and the architectural aesthetics of the Confucius Temple are all the driving forces for people to seek their roots and nostalgia and inherit culture. The erection of the paoan palace is a historical witness to the pioneering work of the ancestors of DALONGDONG. It not only holds the famous celebration "Baosheng Culture Festival" every year, but also its architecture, painting and carving are the work of famous teachers. Under the careful protection of Liao Wuzhi's chairman, it has been awarded the "Asia Pacific heritage preservation Award" by UNESCO, setting a milestone for Taiwan's conservation of historical sites. The Confucius Temple in Taipei is an important historical building since the Japanese era. It forms a "temple, school, and palace" with Dalong elementary school and Bao'an palace. It has many characteristics, such as places of ceremonies, Confucian symbols, and municipal monuments. The abundant Jiaozhi pottery water vehicle decorations in the temple are unique among all Confucius temple buildings in Taiwan.
This time, a total of 8 classes and guided tours were held, and Li Gan Lang, President of the society for the preservation of cultural assets of the Republic of China and a promoter of the deepening and popularization of research on Monuments and architecture in Taiwan, was invited to serve as the general consultant; Zhou Zongxian, an honorary professor at Tamkang University and an expert in the history of historic buildings, and Li Qingzhi, a professor in the Department of architecture at Shih Chien University and a well-known scholar in the humanities of architecture, jointly serve as lecturers in the "lecture on historic buildings." Lin Jiashu, a well-known expert in historic site guidance, serves as a lecturer in the "guided walk", leading the public to appreciate the spiritual journey of famous craftsmen, witnessing great cases of historic site preservation, and conveying the beauty of Taiwan's traditional architecture.
