Far EasTone Telecommunications Forward MWC 2023 Shows Taiwan's 5G Strength

Chee Ching President pointed out that this year, MWC has shown a strong research and development energy. Communication industry leaders are exploring how to enhance 5G technology and accelerate the development towards B5G (Beyond 5G), 6G, and more efficient network performance to assist various industries in creating new value. Far EasTone Telecommunications combines Ericsson's leading global network technology to optimize the 5G network experience, while also reducing energy use, promoting multi-dimensional development such as green networks and smart city governance. During the MWC exhibition period, in-depth exchanges will be held with a number of top international technology companies and telecommunications giants, demonstrating Taiwan's 5G world-class strength, and continuing to align with global heavyweight partners to expand the layout of the industry and the new economy.
Far EasTone Telecommunications has worked closely with its international partner Ericsson and signed the "B5G AI Innovative Application and Sustainable Network MOU" on February 23rd to promote the development of its next-generation technology. According to Ericsson's research, wireless access network (RAN) energy consumption accounts for up to 75% of the overall energy use of mobile networks. Therefore, improving energy efficiency while taking into account network performance is a task for global telecommunications companies to move towards net zero carbon emissions.
This time, both parties jointly demonstrated the latest black technology "AI Energy Saving Network Application", which can automatically monitor the energy saving status of each site cell, predict network traffic, and determine the energy saving mode through intelligent algorithms. Without affecting the user experience and human intervention, it can save 25% of energy consumption on average, and up to 46% in some periods. It is a key application for building a green network.
Another exhibition application, "5G Smart Patrol Vehicle", is to identify stolen vehicles in a short period of time through 5G high-speed transmission of images and AI identification, and provide immediate warnings. It has received high praise from professionals in the field of industry, government, and academia. Currently, the test has been completed in the New Bay Area of Asia in Kaohsiung, and will be actively promoted throughout Taiwan in the future to improve the capacity of urban crime detection and public security management.
