遠東新世紀與遠傳電信永續績效優異 再度榮獲遠見企業社會責任獎

  2018第14屆《遠見雜誌》CSR企業社會責任獎5月2日舉行頒獎典禮,遠東集團為CSR獎項常勝軍,旗下遠東新世紀永續績效卓越,再度獲得「CSR大調查──傳產製造組首獎」;另一關係企業遠傳電信也蟬聯「服務業組楷模獎」,分別由徐旭東董事長、李彬總經理代表公司接受行政院賴清德院長頒獎。徐旭東董事長另獲邀擔任論壇與談人,分享企業如何以創新研發技術發展綠色商品,創造獲利的同時積極回應聯合國永續發展目標(SDGs),達到社會及環境共榮共存。

  《遠見雜誌》CSR企業社會責任獎,今年共有多達219件方案參賽,僅33件獲獎,獲獎率僅一成五,為臺灣最具公信力的CSR獎項之一。遠東新世紀連年獲獎,顯見關注CSR各項議題並挹注資源的成果優異。遠東新世紀公司設立有CSR委員會,以董事會為最高層級,共有154位橫跨各據點及單位的委員負責推動各項永續專案,並定期向董事會溝通執行績效。為使CSR委員了解當前最新永續發展趨勢,凝聚各單位永續意識以制定「永續策略藍圖」,2017年於臺灣和大陸舉辦五場工作坊,總計165位同仁參與。會後產出CSR行動方案,並將公司永續策略與聯合國永續發展目標(SDGs)接軌,以具體行動落實企業永續發展。

  其中,遠東新世紀綠色產品研發實力堅強,2017年綠色產品營收占比26%,最新代表作包括:2017年領先業界推出一系列無氟化(PFC-Free)解決方案,以及運用獨步全球的聚酯合成與回收再製核心能力,將海洋廢棄寶特瓶回收再製成為「海洋回收紗」,提供adidas製成運動鞋。另外,可即時啟動緊急應變程序以預防天災造成廠區損失的「企業氣候風險調適應變系統」、全臺第一檔經外部查證的綠色債券,都是遠東新世紀屢獲國內外肯定的永續作為。

  遠傳電信邁入第21年,持續發展創新商業模式,訂定中長期永續發展目標,將CSR整合進公司的營運策略,善用核心專長,投入環境永續、數位包容、社會參與等領域,接軌聯合國永續發展目標SDGs(Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs),以具體行動回應全球關注議題,期望解決氣候變遷,提升教育品質、健康福祉、就業與經濟成長。

  遠傳電信積極發展商業創新,結合永續型產品,透過雲端技術、大數據分析、IoT應用、AI人工智慧等專業能力,運用在CSR領域,包含智慧城市、智慧健康管理、智慧停車、空氣品質監控、大數據人潮解析、雲端數位學習、防走失定位裝置等應用。遠傳電信去年在CSR領域投入逾2億元,總節電度數達3,222萬度,相當於10.6萬個家庭每月用電量;ICT創新應用協助解決交通、空氣品質等社會問題,提升環境永續性;雲端健康管理服務相關產品,更有效解降低47%因高血壓導致緊急狀況的發生率,預防慢性病發生。主辦單位《遠見雜誌》表示,遠傳電信CSR與核心專長結合,主軸聚焦,對未來趨勢多所著墨,深具遠見,在公司治理、環境永續與社會共融等面向,均受到評審肯定。#


FENC received CSR Grand Prize from Global Views Magazine in Sustainability

Far Eastern New Century Corporation (Stock code: 1402, “FENC”) received the “CSR Annual Survey - Grand Prize in the Traditional Industrial Group” of the 14th Annual Corporate Social Responsibility Award by Global Views Magazine in 2018 and was awarded the “Excellence Award” in 2017, highlighting its recognized CSR achievements. Today (2nd May) Mr. Douglas Tong Hsu, Chairman of FENC received the Prize from Mr. Ching-Te Lai, Premier of Executive Yuan at the ceremony and as a panel speaker to share how to innovate and commercialize green products, whilst echoing to the United Nations’ (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to achieve a win-win for society and environment.

Annual Corporate Social Responsibility Award by Global Views Magazine has been one of the prestigious CSR awards in Taiwan, and Global Views Magazine is the first media to promote CSR evaluation. CSR Annual Survey’s criteria consist of corporate governance, social performance, environmental performance, CSR strategic planning, stakeholders’ communication, data transparency, which scrutinized thoroughly on enterprises’ CSR performance. For example, jury members pick the winner through CSR documentation reviews, final round interviews, and severe jury’s debates on the candidates. Therefore, it is a solid evidence for FENC’s outstanding CSR performance to receive awards for several years in a row.

FENC has formed a CSR committee supervised by the Board of Directors. There are 154 CSR committee members working from different locations and divisions and reporting execution performance regularly to the Board. In order to better understand the latest sustainable trend for CSR committee members, FENC internally conducted five workshops in Taiwan and China to have 165 participants on promoting the idea for articulating “Strategic Roadmap in Sustainability”. Afterwards, it is concluded with CSR action plans to align with the Company’s sustainable strategy and the UN’s SDGs.

FENC’s R&D team has been leading in green innovation, and in 2017, 26% of the production business revenues is derived from green-related products. The world’s first PFC-Free solutions were introduced by FENC in 2017, which eliminates further PFC pollution without compromising performance and reduces the damages to mankind. Moreover, with the cutting-edge know-how on polymerization and closed loop recycling, FENC turned ocean waste PET bottles into TopGreen® Ocean Filament, and as of 2017, Adidas sold out a million pairs of shoes manufactured by TopGreen® Ocean Filament.

For mitigating the impacts between climate change risk and the company’s operation, FENC partnered with National Cheng Kung University’s Industrial Sustainable Development Center to collaborate on “Adaption System of Climate Risk for Enterprises”. Through the systematic analysis on climate factors, FENC could take actions proactively to prevent property and casualty loss in plants. FENC launched Taiwan’s first green bond verified by a third party with total amount of NT$ 3 billion. The purpose for the capital raised is to invest in four green projects: recycled PET, new batch polymer, waterless dyeing and green building projects. With reserved budgets of NT$ 2 billion for the energy conservation and NT$ 1 billion for the environmental protection, FENC planned to elevate the resource efficiency and mitigate the impact of the environment by introducing green solutions with more green production lines, energy reserving equipment and closed loop recycling and less resource consumption.

FENC has been awarded accolades globally and domestically for its CSR achievements. Worldwide, FENC has been nominated by Forbes as one of the world’s top 500 best employers and is a constituent of the MSCI ESG Leaders Indexes and FTSE4Good Emerging Index. Locally, FENC was awarded not only the CSR Grand Prize by Global Views Magazine, but also the “Best Report of the Year” by Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Award and “One of the Top 50 Large Enterprises of Excellence in CSR” by CommonWealth Magazine. Also, FENC was ranked Top 5% in the Taiwan Stock Exchange Corporate Governance Evaluation. These honors speak volumes about the solid sustainable performance FENC has reached in society, economy and sustainability.#
