        The trend of "Far East Architecture Award" has always attracted the attention of Chinese people. On January 19, the "Far East Group Architecture Lecture" and "Far East Architecture Award old house renewal special award ceremony" appeared in the Far East Plaza Hotel, Taipei, and nearly 400 audiences were crowded in.

"Far East Architecture Award" was initiated in 1999 by the Far Eastern Group – Far Eastern Memorial Foundation to enhance the quality of living in Taiwan and to recognize outstanding architectural design. We hope that we can achieve the goal of "improving social construction awareness, caring for the local area and looking at the world" with the strength of private enterprises.

With the changes of time and space and environment, new ideas are constantly emerging in urban architectural style and design concepts. Far East Architecture Award keeps pace with the times. In the past 20 years, it has not only added new awards, but also expanded the concern of the award seat. It is expected that, while leading the architectural trend, it is more in line with social expectations. In 2015, we continued to advocate architectural breakthrough and innovation, and in order to care about the heritage and activation of architectural culture, the 9th "Far East Architecture Award" added "old house renovation special award". In 2019, "old house renewal special award" will be held for the third time, hoping to advocate the sustainability development of local environment by caring for the new generation of old buildings. In addition to the architectural aesthetic level, the selection also considers that the historical texture of the old house should be an active element in the transformation of the new building. The reborn old house should have social influence and education, and give consideration to making the space common and modern.

        At the beginning of the activity on January 19, fan xunlu, the convener of the jury, first said that "old house renovation" should have a positive era, not only nostalgia, but also the achievements of preservation technology. However, in the process of renovation, old houses often present a situation of past and modern dialogue, which can also drive the improvement of the community or environment. The reconstructed buildings not only reflect the needs of modern life, but also may become influential indicators. From this award-winning work, we can find out that we are dedicated to high-quality reconstruction design, so that we can see the ruins and rebirth; we use subtraction as the transformation strategy, through building materials and construction techniques, to accurately provide the functional needs of the user unit; we can also see that architects strive to turn a unique case field into a bright light of the community life value; we can guide us through appropriate business methods Community residents care about the environment and the sustainability of their lives.

Far Eastern Group Douglas Hsu participated in the whole selection process, running through the north and south, and saw the architect's meticulous design for the reconstruction of various old houses. He pointed out that under a very limited budget, it is not easy for architects to give new life to old buildings with elaborate and high-quality design. He also said that far east Architecture Award has been implemented for 22 years, expecting to really encourage excellent architects, and still hope to continue to strive to create a more beautiful urban and rural landscape for Taiwan in the future.

First of all, the "Far Eastern Group architectural lecture" was held. Yao Renxi, a famous architectural master in Taiwan, was invited to practice for more than 30 years under the title of "cultural, natural and spiritual orientation of architecture", and won numerous architectural awards and honors at home and abroad. In 2005, he was awarded the outstanding alumni award of the school of environmental design, University of California, Berkeley. In 2007, he became the 11th winner of Taiwan's highest cultural and Art Award, the national art and literature award, and the first architect to award honors in the architectural category. In 2014, he was awarded "honorary academician" by American Institute of Architects (AIA). His works cover all types of buildings, including commercial buildings, restaurants, public buildings, transportation buildings, religious and school cases. He is good at integrating the humanistic and historical perspectives into the architectural space design, and then presenting the unique local culture and field connotation. His works, such as Shuiyue Daochang, Lanyang Museum, the southern Palace Museum and Wuzhen Grand Theater, are well-known international architectural attractions. The latest works include: Far Eastern Department Store Xinyi A13, the indiger hotel in Taipei, the National Taiwan University shockwave cosmos Museum, and the Nanke Archaeological Museum in the prehistoric Museum. Recent overseas works also include Foxconn's Shanghai headquarters, Suzhou and Tokyo Chengpin.

Referring to the latest work "the letter A13 of Far Eastern Department Store", which was held on the same day as the "Architecture Lecture of Far Eastern Group", Yao Renxi said that far Eastern Department Store For many years, Yao Renxi | Dayuan construction workshop has participated in and devoted a lot of effort to the development of this site. In the process, many schemes have been made to meet the requirements of the owner, Far Eastern Department store, chairman Douglas Hsu We are looking forward to creating a multi-component shopping mall suitable for all ages by integrating fashion boutiques, old restaurants, cinemas, top restaurants and supermarkets. Finally, it is a building composed of a simple but interesting silver and glass measuring body, which represents the sense of technology, fashion, and some science fiction. Yao Renxi pointed out that in the design of the shopping mall, he hoped to provide the owner with a display platform, by means of the overall configuration, to point out the highlights with the surrounding environment, and to provide several particularly interesting opportunities for tourists to experience the space in the shopping mall. To the south of the "Far Eastern Department Store faith A13" base, there is the flagship store of Apple Store designed by Norman Foster, a British architect, which co exists with Yao Renxi's design in the same base, reflecting each other to form an excellent combination.

Next, "Far East Architecture Award – old house renovation special award ceremony", presented by Douglas Hsu, Chen Chunjing, vice mayor of New Taipei, and Yao Renxi. Chen Guanhua, the section chief of the Department of art design of Yuan Ze University and the design team of Dazhi University, won the first prize and the prize of NT $500000. The owner's prize was awarded to Lin ran + Liang Zhengxian and Taiwan good foundation respectively. Shen tingzeng's architectural renovation project of building B of Shih Chien University won the best work award. Lai renshuo and Wu Jianzhi's workshop JK won the Special Jury Award. Each of the two awards can be awarded with NT $300000. The owner award of the best work award will be awarded to Shih Chien University. Chen Yujin and Yang Jiakai's "r04 exhibition hall of Taichung City Cultural and Creative Park" and Wang Mingxian's "Honggen Yazhu" won the award respectively. Ye Shizong's Ten Drum cultural and creative park won the best Popularity Award with 8471 votes.
