U-Ming marine transport / Wang update
On January 17, U-Ming marine transport (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of U-Ming marine transport, signed a contract with Sumitomo, Japan, for the construction of four 100000 DWT bulk carriers at the Oshima Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. in Japan, including the construction of two ships and options of additional two. The signing ceremony was personally presided over by Far Eastern Group Chairman, Douglas Hsu, and was jointly signed with Hiroshi Shiraishi, the Minister of Sumitomo, and Echii Hiraga, the head of Oshima Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. It was successfully completed under the witness of the chief deputy representative, Mitsuki Hoshino, Taipei Office of Japan Taiwan Exchange Association.
U-Ming marine transport continues to carry out the plan of replacing old ships with new ones. Every time a new ship is built, CSBC Corporation, TAIWAN and shipbuilding of various countries are invited to participate in the bid. With the efficient, intelligent, environmentally friendly and energy-saving ships that meet various modern needs, the average age of U-Ming marine transport's own bulk fleet is currently 5.6 years, far lower than the average age of the global bulk fleet of 10.2 years. With the improvement of shipbuilding technology, in order to strengthen the operation efficiency, U-Ming marine transport customizes the energy-saving and environmentally friendly ship types to increase the competitiveness of the fleet, it has eliminated the old ships and added 32 new high-efficiency and environmentally friendly ships since 2012. Currently, there are two ships under construction (two 325000 ton VLOC built in China, mainland). It is expected to complete the delivery in 2020, and the proportion of energy-saving ships in DWT is as high as 80%, compared with other competitors, it keeps differentiation advantages and competitiveness, which continuously improves business performance and profits.
In addition to expanding the fleet size, U-Ming marine transport is also committed to expanding new business strategies and opportunities. The contracted 100000 DWT bulk cargo ship is 235 meters long, 40 meters wide with 100000 tons of DWT. In addition to continuing the energy saving and environmentally friendly concept of U-Ming marine transport, it also increases the proportion of intelligence, which is conducive to the management through ship networking to improve the speed of troubleshooting, reduce the failure rate and improve the operating efficiency; due to the large-scale ship, the fuel consumption per unit cargo and operating costs are also relatively reduced, and in view of the current characteristics of the ship's tendency to operate at low speed, the ship's shape is optimized in the low-speed navigation area to reduce the fuel consumption. The bridge adopts the latest narrow and long design that reduces the wind resistance, and is equipped with optional design of desulfurizer, which fully grasp the key points of future ship design and is beneficial to increase the competitiveness after the implementation of the low sulfur oil convention.
