Far EasTone Telecommunications awarded Common Wealth Magazine 1.5 ° C Temperature Control Target Stamp

        Reducing carbon emissions and cooling down is urgent. Far EasTone Telecommunications is committed to conducting a comprehensive investigation of all carbon emissions generated during its internal operations and product lifecycle. In addition to being the first telecommunications company in Taiwan to pass the Science Based Reduction Target Initiative (SBTi) audit with a 1.5 ° C scenario, it has recently been awarded the 1.5 ° C temperature control target seal by Common Wealth Magazine and has promised to achieve net zero emissions and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 90% by 2048.

        The "Enterprise Carbon Reduction Thermometer" jointly developed by Common Wealth Magazine and Donghai University is the only platform in Taiwan that uses international standards to inventory Taiwan's corporate carbon reduction goals. In June, a list of companies that meet the 1.5 ℃ temperature control target was released, revealing nearly a thousand companies. Only about 20% of companies meet the 1.5 ℃ target of the Paris Agreement. Far EasTone Telecommunications was included, and was certified by Senior Vice President Li Honghao from the Finance and Facilities Services Group.

        Given the urgent climate issue, Far EasTone Telecommunications has joined the RE100 Global Renewable Energy Initiative, committing to fully utilize renewable energy in offices, storefronts, and major data centers by 2030, and 100% use of renewable energy throughout the company by 2040. The goal is to achieve net zero emissions for the entire company by 2048, with greenhouse gas emission categories 1&2 and 3 reducing emissions by more than 90% compared to 2021.

        On the issue of energy conservation and carbon reduction, Far EasTone Telecommunications has scientifically set reduction targets and promoted "low-carbon operation", including pioneering "AI base station site selection" technology and introducing external air energy-saving technology to reduce the electricity consumption of computer room air conditioning. In three years, it will replace outdated air conditioning in the storefront with "energy-saving first level energy efficiency" air conditioning equipment, greatly saving electricity and providing customers with a more comfortable experience. After the merger of Far East Asia at the end of 2023, we will continue to integrate base stations and equipment through a three pronged approach of "base station consolidation", "shared data centers", and "5G sleep technology", improve operational and electricity efficiency, and continue to move towards the goal of net zero emissions.

        Far EasTone Telecommunications has achieved outstanding performance, not only being selected for the Taiwan Sustainability Index consistency stock for six consecutive years, but also ranking first in the global telecommunications industry in DJSI World (DJSI World). It received full marks in three areas: "Environmental Policy and Management", "Waste Management", and "Water Resources Management", and also received the highest score in the telecommunications industry in "Climate Strategy" and "Biodiversity".
