On July 31st, Harvard Business Review (HBR) held the "2024 HBR Taiwan Top 100 Business Leaders" award ceremony. Far Eastern Group Douglas Hsu led four companies, Far Eastern New Century Corporation, Asia Cement Corporation, Far EasTone Telecommunications, and U-Ming Marine Transport, to achieve outstanding performance and won four leadership awards. This is also the fifth time Douglas Hsu has won the award since the "HBR Taiwan Top 100 Business Leaders" were held for five years. Douglas Hsu personally attended the award ceremony and shared the honor and joy with nearly 70 Taiwanese business leaders present. He thanked his colleagues for their efforts and encouraged them to continue to overcome external challenges with wisdom in the future, and create new achievements.
Since 2016, Harvard Business Review has been conducting the "Top 100 Global CEOs" survey every two years, following the American English version. It is currently the largest and only survey in Taiwan that focuses on the personal performance of leaders of listed companies in Taiwan. In addition to the three major indicators of financial structure (market value growth during the tenure of corporate leaders, cumulative total shareholder return during tenure, and average annual after tax earnings per share during tenure), starting from 2022, in view of the increasing importance of ESG as an international trend, ESG effectiveness has been specifically added for comprehensive evaluation. This year's U-Ming Marine Transport ranks 7th in the project with a total shareholder return rate of 1156%; Far Eastern New Century Corporation, Asia Cement Corporation, and Far EasTone Telecommunications were also rated as excellent in the "ESG" project for their active implementation of ESG actions.
The 100 corporate leaders included in this year's list have a total market value of NTD 42.98 trillion, accounting for 66.4% of the total market value of NTD 64.72 trillion of Taiwan's listed companies. Their influence on Taiwan's economy is evident. The organizer specially invited Minister Guo Zhihui of the Ministry of Economic Affairs to deliver a speech and serve as a presenter. At the same time, Huang Zhifang, Chairman of the Foreign Trade Association, was arranged to give a speech on the topic of "Key Decisions for CEOs under Global Changes". Huang Qiyuan, President of Lantao Asia, and Zeng Yiting, Founder and CEO of FUNWOO Dezai International Real Estate, were also invited to discuss "New Business Opportunities for Cross border Industrial Layout under the New Geopolitics". The scene was grand and exciting.
