MWC 2025 grand debut Far EasTone Telecommunications signs MOU with Ericsson

        The 2025 World Congress on Communications (MWC) will kick off on March 3rd, Far EasTone Telecommunications and international telecommunications giant Ericsson have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the "2025 Sustainable Smart Network Evolution" with Chee Ching President and Taiwan's Ericsson Zhou Da Enterprise President, respectively. The two sides will jointly promote the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and B5G (Beyond 5G) technologies, and engage in deeper cooperation on three key points: "Reshaping Connection Value", "Forging Smart Networks", and "Unleashing Future Potential", including using AI and automation technology to improve network efficiency and operational efficiency, enhancing digital resilience with advanced network security technology, expanding cooperation in innovative applications of 5G Advanced technology, unleashing 5G potential, and creating a high-quality user experience.

        AI intelligent energy-saving network, enhanced digital resilience, 5G-A innovative application launch three arrows at once

        To meet the diverse 5G application scenarios, Far EasTone Telecommunication has partnered with Ericsson to strengthen the application of AI in the Radio Access Network (RAN), gradually constructing an Intent driven Network. With the assistance of AI, the system can automatically adjust network configurations, quickly meet users' current usage scenarios and needs, and enhance user experience. Meanwhile, through AI monitoring and estimation of network traffic, resources can be effectively utilized to reduce network and electricity usage, thereby achieving sustainable energy conservation goals.

        In addition, both parties continue to integrate advanced security technologies to enhance digital resilience, including combining open network APIs with anti fraud applications to more flexibly detect fraud and ensure user safety in different contexts. Given the rapid development of technology and the increasing demand for information security, Far EasTone Telecommunication and Ericsson will also jointly explore the possibility of using "quantum encryption" and other innovative security technologies to protect digital infrastructure and provide more efficient network security protection.

        On the other hand, Far EasTone Telecommunication and Ericsson also leverage the core advantages of 5G technology to continuously deepen their cooperation in 5G Advanced solutions, such as 5G NR RedCap, positioning technology, and differentiated connectivity, further enhancing network flexibility and efficiency, and providing users with customized and excellent network experiences. Both parties have completed the differentiated connection service test of "Taipei Arena 5G Advanced" and will showcase this innovative achievement at the 2025 MWC venue.

        Far EasTone Telecommunication 、 Ericsson partners to achieve multiple global first milestones in 5G innovation and sustainable energy conservation

        Far EasTone Telecommunication has had a solid partnership with Ericsson for over 20 years, working together to achieve multiple global telecommunications industry milestones, including the world's first 5G independent network multi slice test in 2021, and the innovative 5G SA combined with network slicing commercial case "5G Smart Patrol Vehicle" launched in 2023. These achievements have been remarkable and will be showcased on the MWC international stage in 2024, receiving widespread response.

        In the field of sustainable net zero, Far EasTone Telecommunications is the first Taiwanese telecommunications operator to join the Ericsson Global Product Take Back Program, collecting over 500 metric tons of electronic waste over the past three years; Starting from 2023, Ericsson's "AI Smart Energy saving Network Application" will be introduced, which can save an average of 25% and up to 46% of base station energy consumption in some periods; During the 2024 MWC, both parties also signed an MOU to promote the further upgrade of AI energy-saving networks.

        Meanwhile, During the conference, Far EasTone Telecommunications, led by Vice President Guo Junjie of the Network Technology and Operations Group, visited Allot, a global leader in network security, to exchange the latest technology and application development, and jointly explore the challenges and developments of the telecommunications industry in digital transformation and security protection. The "Anti Hacker Heart Guard" and "Children's Heart Guard" services jointly launched by both parties provide enhanced network security protection for consumers and small and medium-sized enterprises to resist increasingly severe digital threats.
