Far EasTone Telecommunication collaborates with suppliers to create a net zero future

        Far EasTone Telecommunication continues to deepen its commitment to the common value chain. On November 18th, it held its annual supplier conference with the theme of "Chain Sustainability, Creating Net Zero Together", working together with supply chain partners to promote environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility. During the meeting, Far EasTone Telecommunication not only shared the latest sustainable trends, but also commended suppliers who have shown outstanding performance in net zero emissions, recycled economy, social welfare, and annual evaluations, demonstrating Far EasTone Telecommunication's determination to work together with partners towards net zero.

        Chee Ching President stated that while creating profits and continuously optimizing innovative products and services, companies should also fulfill their social responsibilities, care about the quality of life of the people, demonstrate their carbon reduction actions, and strive to protect the environment and avoid climate disasters. Far EasTone Telecommunication has launched a carbon inventory check, held a workshop on sustainable governance, and promoted due diligence on sustainable risks, all with the hope of achieving sustainable coexistence through the power of the ecosystem. In 2024, Far EasTone Telecommunication's supply chain carbon emissions decreased by 5.9% compared to the previous year, and due diligence coverage reached 92% of the procurement amount. It also achieved full marks in the "Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI)" supply chain module, thanks to the active participation of its supplier partners.

        In addition to sharing the achievements of carbon reduction in the past year and the new annual plan, this supplier conference also invited Vice President Wen Zhen from Qinye Zhongxin to give a special speech on promoting supplier sustainable management. Yongxun Think Tank, guided by Far EasTone Telecommunication Accelerator, shared how to use digital tools to complete ESG reports. Senior Manager Liu Yilin from HPI Corporation was also invited to share her experience in sustainable practices.

        Far EasTone Telecommunication continues to lead in supply chain sustainability management, completing 487 supplier sustainability due diligence investigations in 2024 and confirming 100% improvement in all high-risk factories through third-party confirmation. In addition, Far EasTone Telecommunication has held sustainability workshops for two consecutive years to assist suppliers in resolving net zero transformation pain points, receiving anonymous satisfaction feedback from participating companies with 4.8 stars (out of 5 stars). The outstanding performance has earned Far EasTone Telecommunication the highest A-level recognition in the CDP Supply Chain Conference for five consecutive years, making it the only telecommunications company in Taiwan.

        In terms of social welfare, Far EasTone Telecommunication has formed a "Hand in Hand Sustainable Pioneer Team" with suppliers. Over the past five years, 148 suppliers have participated to promote rural area education, child care, and climate education. They have completed the construction of the Taitung Taimali Binmao Junior High School basketball court, the New Taipei Wanli Elementary School technology classroom, the Hualien Food Bank frozen storage equipment, the Taitung Luye Children's Care Classroom, and sponsored the Taitung Luye Ruiyuan Elementary School archery team and other projects.

        During this year's Hualien earthquake, Far EasTone Telecommunication teamed up with a well-known mobile phone brand to raise emergency communication phones to provide emergency communication for disaster stricken people. They also donated NTD 1.5 million to local public welfare organizations with partners such as Samsung, Vivo, OPPO, etc. In addition, they also launched the "You buy a phone, I donate" charity activity with mobile phone brand Vivo to donate funds to support vulnerable groups in Nantou.

        At this supplier conference, Far EasTone Telecommunication specially commended 24 outstanding suppliers, among which Taiwan International Standard Electronics won the "Net Zero Carbon Emission Model Award"; Ericsson Taiwan received the 'Recycled Economy Pioneer Award'; Delta Electronics, Inc. has been awarded the "Biodiversity Pioneer Award"; Speedlink received the 'Occupational Safety Excellence Award'; HPI Corporation received the 'Sustainable Management Model Award'; Interactive Digital Technologies Inc. received the "Social Responsibility Model Award". Five suppliers, including Weineng Electric Communication, Taiying Technology, Tuoqin Enterprise, Xunqun Enterprise, and Qinghao Technology, were awarded the "Outstanding Supplier Annual Evaluation Achievement Award"; Three companies, namely Xinbao Technology, Haomian Technology, and Yuanchuang Intelligence, were awarded the "Supplier Annual Evaluation Achievement Improvement Award". 12 companies, including Interactive Digital Technologies Inc., Leading Engineering, Taiwan Entiti Systems, Taiwan International Standard Electronics, Weiyun Technology, Nanxun Enterprise, Xianguan Technology, Tangcheng Technology Printing, Bocai Technology, Junkai Technology, WorldTrend Co., Ltd., and Lihua Industrial, have won the "Light Award for Disaster Resilience of the Sustainable Vanguard Team".
