 The world's largest annual mobile communication event, the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2026), will be held from March 2nd to 5th. Far EasTone Telecommunication will not only collaborate with international partners to showcase heavyweight applications, but also sign a three-year (2026-2028) "5G Advanced Acceleration Cooperation Agreement" with Ericsson. This time, Far EasTone Telecommunications and Ericsson signed contracts on behalf of Chee Ching President and Taiwan Ericsson Zhou Da Enterprise President, respectively. Witnessed by the President and Senior Vice President of Chafic Nassif in Ericsson's Northeast Asia region, as well as the Technical Director of Far EasTone Telecommunications, Guo Junjie, and other executives, it was announced that they will work together to promote Taiwan's digital infrastructure and continue to move towards an international leading position.

According to the cooperation agreement, Ericsson will assist Far EasTone Telecommunications in introducing advanced programmable radio access network (RAN) and core network solutions, optimizing network capacity and coverage, and simultaneously improving network reliability and operational efficiency. Through efficient architecture design, it is expected to improve energy efficiency by 35%, laying a key foundation for Far EasTone Telecommunication to achieve its net zero emissions target by 2048. At the same time, both parties will further optimize spectrum utilization efficiency, with a particular focus on deep indoor coverage of low-frequency resources, fully leveraging Far EasTone Telecommunication's spectrum advantages, expanding 5G network coverage and enhancing overall performance to meet future market demand and business growth.
In addition, Far EasTone Telecommunication will continue to drive the evolution of 5G Advanced technology, providing more flexible and differentiated connectivity services, with the goal of providing consumers with a performance assured connectivity experience at critical moments; At the same time, tailored service quality (QoS) solutions are provided to meet the specific needs of enterprise users, ensuring that important applications maintain high stability and efficiency, further expanding the breadth and value of communication services.
Strengthening the upstream network to meet personalized needs, introducing multiple advanced AI technologies to enhance operational efficiency and network resilience
With the continuous integration of AI, cloud, and mobile technologies, new terminal devices such as augmented reality (AR)/artificial intelligence (AI) glasses are expected to significantly increase upstream network traffic to support real-time and personalized service needs. Far EasTone Telecommunication will work closely with Ericsson to introduce new software for existing 5G sites and deploy radio equipment equipped with Ericsson Silicon technology, significantly enhancing uplink transmission capacity and network capacity, and assisting Far EasTone Telecommunication in maintaining a leading position in next-generation AI applications and differentiated services.
In terms of operational efficiency, both parties will collaborate to deeply integrate advanced AI technology into the network operation process. Through the Ericsson Intelligent Automation Platform (EIAP) and multiple AI wireless network applications (rApps), real-time monitoring and automatic optimization of base stations and wireless networks will be achieved, further improving overall network performance. In addition, by introducing the Ericsson Security Manager and Ericsson Service orchestration and assurance platform, Far EasTone Telecommunications network security and resilience will be strengthened, end-to-end service process automation will be promoted, and manual operations will be reduced, moving towards the goal of building intelligent autonomous networks with AI.
