Taiwan ETC's New Southbound Victory Wins the International Smart Transport Award

        The 29th ITS World Congress was held in Suzhou, Chinese Mainland on October 16. More than 10000 experts, manufacturers and officials from all countries in the field of intelligent transportation participated in the event. Zhang Yongchang, Executive Director and President of Far Eastern Electronic Toll Collection, was awarded the "ITS World Congress - Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Award" by Secretary General of ITS Asia Pacific Secret Dept. Akio Yamamoto, Let Taiwan ETC once again make a name for itself on the international stage.

        The ITS World Conference is the largest international event in the field of smart transportation, including forums, exhibitions, exhibitions, and visits, which are held annually in rotation in Europe, the Americas, and the Asia Pacific region. Akio Yamamoto, Secretary General, stated that Zhang Yongchang, Executive Director and President, led Far Eastern Electronic Toll Collection to cooperate with Taiwan's PPP (Public Private Partnership) policy and goal guidance, promote the digital transformation of ETC services, and achieve excellent results of eTag penetration rate of 94% and charging accuracy rate of 99.999999%, promoting the development of Taiwan's smart transportation construction and sharing ETC experience, Leading the ETC industry chain to export overseas, this award is well deserved.

        Zhang Yongchang, Executive Director and President, not only expressed gratitude to the Department of Transport and the Public Security Bureau for setting clear goals for ETC at that time, but also worked together with Far Eastern Electronic Toll Collection to achieve "digital transformation of universal service", thereby promoting the digital transformation of Taiwan's smart highways and smart cities. He also expressed that Taiwan ETC has shifted from a technical mindset to personalized services guided by user needs, Not only is it the key to successfully driving the system, but it is also the driving force for continuous improvement.         Douglas Hsu also expressed his admiration for the government's foresight in implementing electronic toll collection 20 years ago after learning about the award. The high popularity and highly accurate success rate of ETC in Taiwan have not only won international awards, but also surpassed Europe and America to become a solution to traffic congestion in Southeast Asian countries. This demonstrates the successful operation of this PPP case.

        Since 2013, Taiwan has won a total of seven awards at the ITS World Conference. This award not only gathers all achievement awards, but also makes Taiwan the only member in Asia to have three World Hall of Fame winners.

        In addition, Taiwan ETC has also won many international awards, including the 2015 ITS World Congress Hall of Fame Award - Industry Achievement Award; The International Association of Bridges, Tunnels and Highways (IBTTA) Award for Excellence in Toll Systems and Customer Service and Promotion; The International Road Federation (IRF) "First Prize in Smart Transportation and Management"; "EASIA Awards - First Prize in the E-commerce Private Enterprise category"; The WITSA Global Information Technology Award - Private Enterprise Excellence Award, as well as the Harvard Business Review Digital Transformation Award.
