Far Eastern New Century Corporation participates in COP29 to share highlights of recycled economy and carbon reduction

        The 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 29) will be held in Azerbaijan from November 11 to 22, 2024. Governments, non-governmental organizations, business leaders, and experts and scholars from around the world will gather for consultations, negotiations, and experience sharing to jointly combat climate change. Associate Professor You Jingying from Far Eastern Group Yuan Ze University was invited to attend the COP 29 conference on November 12-13. She delivered two speeches at Far Eastern New Century Corporation's official venue, the Blue Zone, focusing on the company's "recycled economy products" and "carbon reduction performance". She also showcased the company's 2022 FIFA "Marine Recycled Environmental Explosion Resistant jerseys" and "100% Recycled Polyester Sports Shoes" made from recycled marine waste, which received enthusiastic responses from the audience and amazed Taiwan's innovative strength.

        During the COP29 conference, only participants recognized by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), including government delegations, heads of state, observers, and media, were allowed to enter the Blue Zone.

        Associate Professor You mentioned in his speech that Far Eastern New Century Corporation has been deeply involved in the polyester recycling industry for over 30 years, applying its core capabilities to the development of various innovative and renewable technologies, developing green technologies using "land, sea, and air" waste as renewable raw materials, and collaborating with global brand customers to create sustainable value and construct a sustainable circular living circle. The recycling industry has expanded from Taiwan to the United States, Japan, Chinese Mainland, Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia, etc.

        In addition, the speech specifically mentioned Far Eastern New Century Corporation's five major strategies for carbon reduction, striving to achieve the 2025 carbon reduction target ahead of schedule by 2023, and redefining new low-carbon transformation goals for 2030: reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 50%, green products accounting for 50%, and green raw materials accounting for 50%, demonstrating a strong determination to reduce carbon emissions, surpassing international standards, and actively moving towards net zero emissions by 2050.
