        Subsidy programs for frozen eggs and in vitro fertilization in various counties and cities across Taiwan

        To encourage childbirth, various counties and cities in Taiwan have launched various subsidy programs for frozen eggs and in vitro fertilization. Taking New Taipei City as an example, starting from July 1, 2025, the "Good Pregnancy Subsidy Three Consecutive Issues" will be launched, including a subsidy of NTD 30000 for thawing eggs to help with good pregnancy (for women who have frozen eggs, have spouses, and comply with regulations), an increase in medical egg freezing subsidy to NTD 70000 (NTD 60000 for egg freezing costs+NTD 10000 for preservation costs), and a medical sperm freezing subsidy of NTD 8000. In addition, the New Taipei City Government also offers a free health check-up program, and those who meet the conditions of "married, have not yet given birth to their first child, and one spouse is registered in New Taipei City" can receive a free "pre pregnancy health check-up after marriage".

        The subsidy programs for other counties and cities have also been reorganized as follows (if there are any updates to the relevant policies, please refer to the latest announcements from the health bureaus of each county and city government):

        Taipei City

        Additional subsidy for artificial reproductive treatment (in vitro fertilization): If either spouse is registered in Taipei City and the wife is under 44 years old, once a year, a subsidy of NTD 25000 will be provided.

        Medical egg freezing subsidy: For women under 40 years old (inclusive) registered in Taipei City, if their fertility is affected by cancer treatment, they will receive a lifetime subsidy once, with a maximum NTD of 32000 (including NTD 20000 for egg freezing costs and NTD 3000/year for 4-year preservation costs).

        Taoyuan City

        Frozen Egg Nutrition Subsidy Program: Women aged 25 to 40 registered in Taoyuan City will receive a subsidy of 1000 NTD per case for AMH blood tests; The frozen egg nutrition fund and frozen egg preservation fee will receive a subsidy of NTD 20000 in the first year, and NTD 6000 in each of the second and third years. The total maximum subsidy is NTD 33000.

        【 Hsinchu City 】

        Best wishes for pregnancy subsidy: Women aged 25-40 who have been registered in Hsinchu City for more than 1 year will receive a subsidy of AMH blood test with NTD 1000 per case; One egg freezing treatment course subsidy, with a maximum NTD of 20000; The maximum subsidy for frozen egg management fees is 5 years, with an annual maximum of NTD 2000.

        【 Miaoli County 】

        Happy Miaoli, good pregnancy, frozen egg subsidy: For women aged 25-40 who are registered in Miaoli County for more than 6 months, a total of NTD 20000 will be subsidized for treatment and management expenses (including ovulation induction, egg retrieval surgery, egg processing, freezing, and preservation expenses).

        【 Taichung City 】

        Happy Taichung City Egg and Sperm Freezing Subsidy Program: If either spouse has registered in Taichung City for more than 6 months and is under 45 years old (inclusive), and their fertility is affected by cancer treatment, the egg freezing course subsidy will be NTD 50000, and the maximum subsidy for sperm freezing course will be NTD 8000, with one lifetime subsidy.

        Yunlin County

        Good Pregnancy Assistance Program: For women aged 25-40 who are registered in Yunlin County for more than 6 months, the program provides subsidies for ovarian function testing (AMH), ovulation medication, and egg retrieval surgery. Each person will receive one subsidy, with a maximum NTD of 20000.

        Chiayi City

        Subsidy for Cancer Patients of Childbearing Age: For males aged 18-49 and females aged 18-45 registered in Chiayi City whose fertility is affected by cancer treatment, the maximum subsidy for frozen sperm is NTD 8000 (including sperm retrieval and one-year preservation fees); The maximum subsidy for frozen eggs is NTD 35000 (including egg retrieval and one-year preservation fees), with one lifetime subsidy.

        Tainan City

        Assistance in preserving fertility: For individuals under the age of 40 who have been registered in Tainan City for more than 6 months, a frozen sperm subsidy of NTD 3000 (including sperm retrieval and one-year preservation fees), a frozen egg subsidy of NTD 20000, and a lifetime subsidy of once.

        Kaohsiung City

        Medical Egg Freezing Service Plan: For women under the age of 40 (not limited to married individuals) registered in Kaohsiung City who have their fertility affected by cancer treatment, the maximum subsidy per case is NTD 30000.

        [Hualien County]

        Treatment subsidy for frozen eggs: if I or my spouse is located in Hualien County for more than 6 months and less than 45 years old, and the specialist believes that the fertility function may be affected due to the treatment of diseases, the upper limit of the treatment fee for frozen eggs per case is NTD 60000, and the lifetime subsidy is once.

        Penghu County

        Frozen assisted pregnancy in Penghu: For women aged 25 to 40 who have been registered in Penghu County for more than 3 years, the AMH examination fee will be subsidized with NTD 1000 per case; The management fee for frozen egg preservation is subsidized NTD 2000 per year, with a maximum subsidy of 5 years; The cost of egg freezing treatment is subsidized once for life, with a maximum NTD of 50000.

        National Health Administration's IVF treatment subsidy policy

        In addition, the Bureau of Health Promotion of the Ministry of Health and Welfare has also provided subsidies for IVF treatment since 2019.

        Subsidy recipients: Either spouse is of Chinese nationality, and the wife is under the age of 44 and diagnosed as infertile by a physician from an artificial reproductive institution.

        Subsidy Program: Applicants must go to a Ministry of Health and Welfare designated artificial reproductive institution to undergo in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment for infertility.

        Subsidy content: Low income and middle low income households can receive a maximum subsidy of NTD 150000 per subsidy; Generally, infertile couples apply for a maximum subsidy of NTD 100000 for the first time and NTD 60000 for the second time. The subsidy amount varies depending on the stage of each treatment course. If the actual expenditure is below the subsidy limit, the subsidy will be based on the actual cost.

                Number of subsidies: For wives under the age of 39 who have undergone surgery, up to 6 subsidies will be provided for IVF treatment and successful live births; The maximum subsidy for individuals aged 40 to 44 is three times. If the child has successfully given birth, the number of subsidy calculations for the next child will be recalculated based on the age of the recipient wife.

        Application process: Infertile couples go to a designated artificial reproductive institution to receive medical services, and the institution assists in applying for subsidy eligibility online. After obtaining the eligibility for subsidies, couples must undergo surgery within one year. Within six months after the end of the treatment, the institution will assist in applying for cost subsidies. After approval, the subsidy will be transferred to the designated account.
