Far EasTone Telecommunication partners with suppliers to achieve sustainable transformation and create a new model of green procurement

 Far EasTone Telecommunication collaborates with supply chains to promote sustainable transformation, leading suppliers towards sustainability development through "big leads small". It is not only the first telecommunications company in Taiwan to pass third-party verification of the "ISO 20400 Sustainable Procurement Guidelines", but also recently invited to the Taiwan Alliance for Sustainable Supply (TASS) member conference to share its experience in promoting green and sustainable procurement. Far EasTone Telecommunication will develop the "CARED" strategy from 2023, as the five main axes for implementing sustainable procurement, including: recycled economy (Circular Economy), sustainable culture and awareness (Awareness), risk management (Risk Management), sustainable empowerment (Empowering), and net zero carbon reduction (De carbonization). Among them, consolidating the awareness of sustainable culture among colleagues and supplier partners, empowering partners, and enhancing sustainable management capabilities are the key to success. Far EasTone Telecommunication regularly holds supplier conferences to reward outstanding manufacturers, encourage supply chain partners to learn from each other, and foster a sense of sustainability. Taking the recent conference as an example, the satisfaction rate of supplier partners reached 92%, and 38 manufacturers have a high willingness to participate in carbon reduction actions in different aspects. In terms of social welfare, Far EasTone Telecommunication has been inviting suppliers to form a "Hand in Hand Sustainable Pioneer Team" for many years, jointly caring for rural areas and children's education. So far, a total of 129 partners have joined the ranks to help society.
In addition, Far EasTone Telecommunication continues to improve its internal and external sustainability management capabilities, including organizing 19 internal training courses in the past three years to enhance colleagues' knowledge and skills in carbon reduction, recycled economy, and risk management; Plan a "Digital Sustainable Elite Training" course to strengthen the ability to conduct due diligence management for suppliers; For suppliers, Far EasTone Telecommunication arranges exchange opportunities such as "Small and Medium sized Enterprise Sustainable Governance Workshop" and "Supply Chain Carbon Inventory Course". In addition to sharing the latest sustainable trends, they also address the transformation pain points of suppliers step by step.
Leading the way in Taiwan to release the first third-party verified supplier report
 To demonstrate its determination to build a sustainable supply chain, Far EasTone Telecommunication will be the first in Taiwan to release the first "Supply Chain Sustainability Report" verified by a third-party accountant in 2024. Recently, a new annual supplier report will be released, showcasing the achievements of the past year's efforts to work with supplier partners towards sustainability development, such as completing supplier carbon inventory training and establishing a recycled economy sharing platform. To ensure sustainable forest use and ecological protection, the report is mainly published in digital form, and paper reports are also printed on paper that meets the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certification of international non-profit organizations.
The achievements of Far EasTone Telecommunication in constructing a sustainable supply chain have been highly recognized internationally. In addition to being ranked first in the global telecommunications industry for two consecutive years in the "DJSI World" rating, all six indicators of the sustainable supply chain module have received full marks; In addition, it has also received the highest honor of "Leadership A-level" in the global authoritative carbon disclosure organization CDP's "Supplier Engagement Rating", ranking in the top 6% of global enterprises. It is the only telecommunications operator in Taiwan to achieve A-level management performance for five consecutive years, demonstrating excellent sustainable business strength and leading position.
