Hidden heart killers should not be ignored. Far Eastern Memorial Hospital teaches you how to identify ATTR-CM and atrial fibrillation early

Heart disease is not out of reach. In the early stages, symptoms such as mild fatigue, palpitations, dizziness, or wheezing may only appear. Many elders often mistake it for "old age and poor physical strength" and ignore it. To enhance public awareness of cardiovascular disease, Far Eastern Memorial Hospital held a "Heart Care, Health Residency" health education lecture on October 2nd in response to World Heart Day. The team from the Cardiovascular Medicine Center shared "Atrial Fibrillation" and "Understanding ATTR-CM" to remind the public to be aware of early warning signs and reduce the risk of delayed diagnosis.Atrial fibrillation is one of the most common arrhythmias. When the heart rate fluctuates, blood is easily trapped in the atria to form blood clots. When the blood clots run to the brain with the blood flow, they can cause cerebral vascular thrombosis, greatly increasing the risk of stroke. ATTR-CM is a rare but serious heart disease caused by abnormal protein deposition in the myocardium, which can lead to cardiac hypertrophy, arrhythmia, and heart failure. The Chief of Section Xu Rongcheng at the Cardiovascular Medicine Center reminds that only by facing symptoms squarely and actively checking, including regular blood pressure measurements, electrocardiograms, and necessary cardiac imaging, can we effectively prevent the deterioration of the condition, protect heart health, and reduce the risk of stroke or heart failure.
