Yuan Ze University celebrates its anniversary by launching a new milestone for its semiconductor research center

        On March 14th, Yuan Ze University held a series of activities to celebrate its 37th anniversary with the theme of "Forward looking Technology and Sustainability Development". The university also held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Semiconductor and Environmental Science Center building, announcing the establishment of the "Semiconductor Research Center" to create a cross disciplinary research and talent cultivation platform. In addition, alumni from home and abroad are also invited to return to their alma mater and attend alumni networking dinners to reminisce about their friendship. At the same time, the 7th Outstanding Alumni of Yuan Ze University will be commended during the event.

        Principal Liao Qingrong stated that Yuan Ze University will focus on three major directions in the face of changes in the higher education environment and future development challenges. Firstly, it is necessary to strengthen the connection between technology and industry. The "Semiconductor and Environmental Science Center Building" is expected to be completed within one year after construction, with the goal of integrating teaching, research, and collaboration between industry and school, deepening exchanges with international universities, and cultivating new generation technology talents.

        Secondly, we will comprehensively promote AI education. Each department of Yuan Ze University plans to offer AI courses with 12 to 15 credits, becoming the first university in Taiwan to make AI a compulsory course. We hope that students can make good use of and create value from AI, rather than being replaced by AI. At the same time, the school continues to deepen its internationalization layout and has achieved remarkable results in recent years, winning the QS' International Progress Award '.

        Finally, the establishment of the "Semiconductor Research Center" will integrate the resources of the School of Electrical Engineering and Communications Technology and the School of Engineering, including courses, practical applications, and advanced equipment, to cultivate talents with professional abilities in wafer processing, nanomaterials, thin film deposition, packaging testing, and material analysis. At the same time, it will promote research on third-generation semiconductors, composite semiconductor materials, and AI process applications, and establish an advanced material analysis platform to enhance overall research and development capabilities. In the future, we will also work together with semiconductor companies and research institutions at home and abroad to deepen industry academia exchanges and technology transfer, develop international dual programs and practical courses, and develop towards the goals of talent cultivation, international cooperation, industrial innovation, and material analysis, strengthening the research strength of the school in the fields of semiconductor process and materials science.

        Yuan Ze University publicly recognized the outstanding alumni of the 7th cohort at an alumni dinner, including: Lian Jianqin, CEO of Yangzhi Technology Company, Wang Wujing, President and CEO of Jianxing Optoelectronics Company, Lu Jiacheng, President of Cisco Business Group, Wei Kunnan, Chairman of Yuan Ze University Alumni Association, and Yu Yaoxing, Chairman of Yaoxing Technology Company. Five alumni have demonstrated outstanding performance in the fields of business management and industrial development, and have long cared for and given back to their alma mater, becoming exemplary alumni.

        The activities on the day of the school anniversary are rich in content, combined with the school anniversary sports meeting, park tour, the 26th Community Arts Festival, the World Cultural Carnival International Cultural Market, and various college week series activities, showcasing diverse vitality. The event also invites high school students to visit the school and combines surrounding community resources to promote communication and interaction with local residents.

        Yuan Ze University will continue to deepen cross domain research, strengthen international links and collaborations between industry and school, and take semiconductor technology and sustainability development as important development directions. Together with alumni and industry partners, we will cultivate talents with a global perspective and social responsibility, and move towards a more influential and sustainable university.
