Nextlink leads enterprises to embrace the AI era
Nextlink / Lou Bingqing

Since 2006, the speed of technological change has been accelerating, and companies' imagination of technology has been repeatedly redefined. And Nextlink's development trajectory happened to cross these important technological waves. Starting from early B2C network services, entering the public cloud market in 2014, and extending from data applications to today's generative AI and cybersecurity, Nextlink, which celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2026, is also standing at another moment of rapid technological transformation. From Convergence of Business to Clear Positioning: Renaming "Nextlink" to Demonstrate the Determination to Deeply Cultivate the Cloud
Looking back on this journey, Nextlink's Chief Technology Officer, Song Qingyun, sees not only the emergence of new technologies over the past 20 years, but also how enterprise needs continue to change with technology, and how Nextlink accumulates and finds its own position in every turning point.Around 2006, information technology was undergoing a paradigm shift. The rise of virtual machines has enabled computing resources to break through the limitations of physical computer rooms and laid the foundation for the development of "private clouds" in the future. However, what truly changed the logic of enterprise IT was the emergence of public clouds such as AWS, which allowed enterprises to no longer rely solely on self built data centers and hardware equipment. And it is at this stage that Nextlink sees the opportunity for the next wave of industrial transformation.
In 2014, Nextlink officially entered AWS cloud services and became one of the early partners in Taiwan to enter the public cloud market. The following year, the company was renamed from "Nextlink Technology" to "Nextlink Technology", officially establishing its long-term direction of deep cultivation. This choice also became an important starting point for Nextlink's technological layout over the next decade.
Crossing AI concept validation: Leading enterprises towards operational practice with responsible companionship
Song Qingyun observed that when generative AI first started, the market was full of wild imagination; But as experience accumulates, companies gradually realize that not all problems are suitable for AI to solve, let alone importing models to achieve immediate results. Therefore, the expectations of enterprises for AI have shifted from "single question and answer" to "whether it can solve problems for enterprises".At the same time, the role of AI is also changing. With the development of AI agents, multi agents, and agentic AI, AI can now actually call systems, process tasks, and even participate in cross process operations and enter operational processes under human authorization.
However, the deeper the application, the higher the corresponding risks. When AI comes into contact with core data, internal systems, and even decision-making processes, information security, data privacy, permission control, and governance mechanisms become unavoidable issues. Taking the principle of "accountability" in recent regulations related to artificial intelligence as an example, Song Qingyun emphasized that "the ultimate responsibility must still return to people and enterprises themselves
This means that the real problem that enterprises need to solve is' how to use AI in a controllable, traceable, and responsible manner '. And this is precisely the key task of Nextlink: from cloud, data, AI to security, through the integration of technology, architecture, and systems, to assist enterprises in smoothly bringing AI from proof of concept (PoC) to practical operations.
Standing between enterprise needs and technology: the service philosophy of "evolving according to customer needs"
Over the past 20 years, Nextlink's business model and service offerings have undergone changes, and the technology it faces is vastly different from the past. Song Qingyun recalled, 'When I first joined the company, Nextlink was a customer-oriented company.'. After undergoing numerous technological iterations and market waves, the only thing that the company has not changed is its insistence on always putting customers at the core.
Some technology companies start from the product, develop a technology or product first, and then consider how to promote it to the market; But Nextlink is more like a service-oriented enterprise, first understanding the actual needs of customers and then deciding what capabilities need to be established.
This kind of thinking is also reflected in Nextlink's early decision to invest in "multi cloud". Given the market environment at that time, focusing on a single cloud platform made it easier to concentrate resources. However, the company started researching different platform technology services early on and later acquired Hongting Technology as a subsidiary to deepen its development of Google Cloud, Microsoft, and Alibaba Cloud proxy maps. Although there have been discussions within the company about whether it is still necessary to continue investing when the proportion of other cloud services is not high and may not immediately bring significant benefits, the company ultimately chose a multi cloud service strategy.
The reason is not complicated, that is, customers will not always use only one type of cloud, but will choose different technology platforms based on considerations such as different systems, application scenarios, and costs. Therefore, Nextlink positions itself as a Cloud SI (cloud system integrator) that stands between enterprise needs and technology, assisting customers in making choices that are suitable for their own context.
Looking back years later, multi cloud has gradually become an important trend in the enterprise market. But for Nextlink, this stems from an early established core logic: technology choices should serve customer needs. The same spirit has also extended to new fields such as Data, AI, and cybersecurity. This' evolving by demand 'approach has been the original intention that Nextlink has maintained for 20 years.
Moving towards the next 20 years: Nextlink becomes the most trusted technology partner in the digital age of enterprises
20 years is certainly a milestone worth looking back on, but for Nextlink, it is also the starting point of the next journey. Although future technological advancements will only change faster, regardless of the next hot technology topic, Nextlink always shoulders the mission of "Cloud SI (Cloud System Integration Provider)": to understand the practical pain points faced by enterprises, and then integrate cloud, data AI、 Integrating cybersecurity and future new technologies into architectures and services that enterprises can use, accompanying them towards the next digital age.
