FET lets 5G intelligent bus show up on the street

        At the end of 2018, FET took "Internet of vehicles" as its main axis to demonstrate the operation mode of low latency, high-speed computing and mass connection of 5G, together with a series of applications, such as self-driving automobile, intelligent parking systems and intelligent station boards, etc. which outlined the intelligent traffic vision completely in the 5G era. This year, 5G is about to be transferred to business, and the development of related applications is becoming more and more mature. FET is making every effort to accelerate the development of relevant technologies and business models, and will apply 5G to intelligent buses. The 5G self-driving buses, developed and tested with partner, Turing Drive in Taiwan, has been operating in the late night of Xinyi Road in Taipei since the end of May. The official operation of 5G self-driving bus is just around the corner.

        The 5G intelligent bus, which is currently being tested and operated on Xinyi Road, is mainly researched and developed by Turing Drive. In cooperation with the Taipei municipal government and gain of testing license for unmanned vehicle from the Ministry of Economic Affairs, it is expected to use FET 5G network, network slice and enterprise private network planning, 5G CPE (terminal equipment) and C-V2X (cellular vehicle to everything). Among them, the automatic driving system and intelligent intersection are developed by Turing Drive. The domestically built electric buses are made by Tron-e, the convoy management system and the information system are set up by International Integrated Systems, Inc., and the high-precision map is established and maintained by Thinktron. LTD. The "national team" enables the 5G intelligent bus to run smoothly on Xinyi Road in Taipei.

        At present, the self-driving bus system has been tested in bus lane of section 1 to 5 of Xinyi Road in Taipei, 12:30-02:30 in the morning. It starts from Jingfu Gate, passes through Zhongzheng memorial hall, Da'an Forest Park, to Taipei International Convention Center. The round trip is about 12.3 KM. It is expected to carry FET 5G service. According to the test results, people can have a ride experience as soon as September.
