The opening ceremony of collaboration between industry and school and Youth Innovation Center of Oriental Institute of Technology

        The collaboration between industry and school and Youth Innovation Center of Tamsui campus of OIT held a commencement ceremony on August 18, Far Eastern Group Chairman Douglas Hsu, Deputy Mayor Xie Zhengda of New Taipei municipal government and other political and business personages were invited to attend the ceremony.

        Huang Maoquan, President of the OIT, said that there were three meanings in the process of renaming OIT into University of science and technology

        First, OIT will extend collaboration between industry and school as well as teachers and students' creation to Tamsui campus, and more importantly, it is necessary to turn teachers' and students' works into commodities or high-quality products; second, OIT will serve the manufacturers and residents in Tamsui area with the adjacent universities, such as Aletheia University, Taipei University of Marine Technology. Third, the Tamsui campus will plan to recruit foreign students, expand into dormitories for international students, and provide a new base for international industrial practice and innovation for the stationed manufacturers.

        Mr. Huang Maoquan further explained that people can take Taipei Metro Bannan Line at Far Eastern Memorial Hospital Station to Hongshulin Station of Danshuixinyi Line and then transfer to railway to Binhai Shalun station or Taipei University of Marine Technology Station to Tamsui campus from the headquarter of OIT in Banqiao. The transportation between the two campuses is convenient.

        Chairman Douglas Hsu said that the OIT not only pays attention to the perfection of software and hardware facilities, but also has a complete and comprehensive plan for the development of school campus and buildings, with a view to improving the quality of teaching, research and campus life of staff and students. Although OIT is an urban school, in recent years, it still focuses on the development of green buildings in planning and constructing school buildings,

        Deputy Mayor Xie Zhengda said that the OIT has been fostering outstanding talents for the industry for a long time. He hopes to further enhance talent education through the newly established collaboration between industry and school and Youth Innovation Center. He also hopes that the OIT will be renamed as Oriental University of Science and Technology successfully.

        The development plan of the collaboration between industry and school and Youth Innovation Center of Tamsui campus is to build a building with 1 floor underground and 3 floors above ground, with a total floor area of 4,070.00㎡. The project is expected to be completed in May 2021. At that time, it will be combined with the resources needed by maker, such as industry and university resources, teachers and industrial business model, to cultivate teachers and students to start their own businesses, thus driving the energy of Taiwan's innovation industry. At the same time, a professional guidance consultant team (including the industry, official and university) will be established to provide consultation for teachers and students, and manufacturers will be recruited to provide experience inheritance. On the other hand, it also helps the teams recruited to apply for u-start subsidy, set up a team, set up a company, and make market positioning. After having a specific operation scale, it can assist in private placement, group fundraising or application for Angel Fund according to the product properties, so as to promote the opportunities of communication and cooperation and cross industry alliance.
