Far EasTone Telecommunications invites experts to discuss a sustainable future and demonstrate net zero determination

 Far EasTone Telecommunications continues to collaborate with various sectors to promote sustainability. On March 22, the first "Biodiversity Impact Seminar on Telecommunications Economic Activities" will be held across Taiwan, inviting experts from the Academia Sinica Biodiversity Research Center (hereinafter referred to as the Center for Diversity) to discuss the importance of biodiversity and calling on over 300 supplier partners to respond together, I hope to develop a solution that can balance economic development and reduce ecological impact.
This seminar will be divided into two sessions: the morning and the afternoon. In the morning session, representatives from various institutions such as the Diversity Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Far EasTone Telecommunications, Nokia and Ericsson from Taiwan will discuss in depth how to consider biodiversity when constructing base stations and computer rooms in the telecommunications industry; In the afternoon, researchers from the Diversity Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences shared research findings on topics such as intertidal zone, marine ecology, stream biodiversity conservation, shallow mountains and inner mountains, open data, urban light sources, and provided suggestions to suppliers and partners. After the Far EasTone Telecommunications meeting, key suppliers were also required to sign a 'biodiversity commitment letter' to ensure future inclusion in the company's operations.
On the same day, at the "2023 Innovation Forum", Chee Ching President delivered a speech as one of the organizers, analyzing the urgency of carbon reduction and how to move towards a recycled economy. He was also invited to give a special speech on "Building a Green Economy with Technology", sharing the company's net zero strategy, including: implementing smart energy conservation and low-carbon operations internally; Expand green communication business opportunities to the outside world. Vice President Zheng Wencan of the Executive Yuan, President Liu Yongping of the Economic Daily, Ambassador and Chairman of the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy of the Republic of China, and Vice President Zhang Zhipeng and Senior Executive Vice President of Asia Cement Corporation attended the forum.
