Adhering to the culture of "taking from society and applying to society" in the Far Eastern Group, Far Eastern Memorial Hospital has long been committed to "continuously improving medical quality and fulfilling social medical responsibilities". In recent years, following the group's sustainable management philosophy and ESG business philosophy, it has continuously improved the quality of medical services, promoting the Sustainability Development blueprint from aspects such as hospital governance, patients, social care, and employee care.
Dr. Chiu, Dean Kuanming, stated that climate change has caused immense pressure on the Earth. Reflecting on hospital operations, the annual electricity consumption is huge, and any fluctuations in electricity prices will bring a significant burden; In addition to energy management, how to create a friendly workplace, encourage mutual support from colleagues, and continuously break through and innovate in the medical profession to meet the needs of the public, playing the role of a community guardian, is an important task for achieving hospital sustainability. Looking forward to reviewing all operational processes, aligning with international goals, and leaving a better Earth for the next generation, starting from the signing of the initiative.
Dr. Chiu, Dean Kuanming, led over a hundred vice deans and first and second level supervisors to witness the historic moment of signing the contract and demonstrate their importance to the Sustainability Development initiative. The TAISE Chairman, Ambassador Jian Youxin, highly praised Far Eastern Memorial Hospital for implementing the group's sustainability concept, establishing a Sustainability Development team, regularly reviewing the implementation of various projects, and promoting various energy management and carbon reduction and waste reduction actions. Through a sustainability report, he communicated with stakeholders to implement Sustainability Development.
At present, international organizations have proposed strategies for reducing carbon emissions in hospitals, with a particular emphasis on the determination of the leadership, encouraging the gradual implementation of plans starting from commitments, regular public announcements, and collaboration with partners. TAISE will also continue to work with various medical institutions to assist in green transformation and further safeguard the health of the entire population. In order to implement energy conservation and carbon reduction, Far Eastern Memorial Hospital has actively improved its building, air conditioning, and lighting systems in recent years to reduce energy consumption. It also regularly reviews the effectiveness of water resource management and waste treatment. In 2021, it was awarded the "Model Environmental Protection Responsibility Enterprise" award by the Environmental Protection Administration. In the future, it will strengthen intelligent management and strive to become the most socially and environmentally friendly health hospital.
