Far Eastern Group New Asia Cement Corporation 、 U-Ming Marine Transport 、 Oriental Union Chemical Corporation 、 Everest Textile Listed as one of the "Top 100 Carbon Competitiveness Companies"

        From Business Weekly The "Top 100 Carbon Competitiveness" jointly organized by the National Taiwan University Risk Center announced the selection results on November 27th, Far Eastern Group's Far Eastern New Century Corporation Asia Cement Corporation 、 U-Ming Marine Transport 、 Oriental Union Chemical Corporation 、 Everest Textile Standing out from nearly 1000 listed companies, they have been included in the list one after another, among which, Far Eastern New Century Corporation not only won first place in the textile fiber industry, but was also selected as one of the seven outstanding carbon competitive enterprises. This recognition demonstrates the unremitting efforts of affiliated enterprises to promote net zero carbon emissions and create new heights for the sustainable achievements of the group.

        The "Top 100 Carbon Competitiveness" is selected based on the internationally recognized carbon disclosure framework and industry classification, and is the only indicator survey in Taiwan that links "carbon" with business performance. Far Eastern New Century Corporation has been deeply involved in the recycled economy for over 36 years, successfully creating "land, sea, and air" full recycling technologies to provide innovative recycling solutions for the polyester industry. In addition, it has planned five major strategies to carry out carbon reduction paths, introduce internal carbon pricing mechanisms, and fully promote green manufacturing. The goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50%, green products by 50%, and green raw materials by 50% by 2030. Everest Textile has established a "New Raw Material Import Evaluation System" and has steadily purchased green and environmentally friendly energy, replaced high energy consuming machines. After evaluation, the carbon productivity growth rate is 2% and the carbon emission increase rate is -15%, which has also been recognized in the textile fiber industry.

        Asia Cement Corporation uses alternative raw materials such as waste, solid renewable fuels, sawdust, etc. to reduce the consumption of limestone and coal, and actively develops low-carbon cement, providing the market with multiple environmentally friendly options. In 2023, CO ₂ e emissions will be reduced by 50776 tons compared to 2022. In addition, efficient equipment will be invested to improve energy efficiency, ranking among the top in the cement industry category. Oriental Union Chemical Corporation's carbon reduction efforts include promoting cost savings through recycled economy solutions, developing carbon capture products, recycling PET to produce recycled raw materials, and achieving a carbon productivity growth rate of -8% and a carbon emission increase rate of -1%, which have been recognized in the chemical industry category.

                On the other hand, U-Ming Marine Transport actively promotes the environmental transformation of its fleet. Currently, during regular dock maintenance, the ship's hull paint is upgraded to the latest energy-saving and environmentally friendly paint to reduce resistance, fuel consumption, and use economical speed to save energy and reduce emissions. At present, four liquefied natural gas dual fuel bulk carriers have been put into operation, making it the first shipowner in Taiwan to have a low-carbon fuel vessel, fulfilling the company's commitment to green shipping and highly recognized in the shipping industry category.
