FET "big data + AI + IOT" showed strength at 2021 Smart City Expo

        The four-day "2021 Smart City Expo" was held in Hall 2 of Taipei's Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center on March 23. In response to the annual theme of the expo, " AIoT Invigorates Smart City ", FET exhibited more than 20 innovative applications under the theme of "FET big data + AI + IOT lead digital transformation, enabling 5G new vision". On the first day of the expo, Mayor Chen Qimai of Kaohsiung went to FET’s exhibition area, which was received and guided by FET president Chee Ching, and they exchanged the vision of smart city development in Kaohsiung. Chairman Douglas Hsu also attended the expo on March 25, he personally cared about a number of technologies and inspected the results of the development of "big data + AI + IOT".

        FET said that Taiwan has officially entered a new era of 5G, bringing revolutionary breakthroughs to all walks of life and the public sectors. FET would continue to promote the 5G ecosystem, combined with the integration strength of big data + AI + IOT, cloud and information and communication, deeply plough the fields of intelligent manufacturing, medical treatment, transportation and retail, promote the industrial upgrading and accelerate the realization of the vision of smart city. At the same time, since the establishment of 5G AIoT International Alliance last year, it has actively participated in building "science and technology Bay, smart Kaohsiung". It hopes to bring more successful experience to all parts of Taiwan, create a new model of smart city with public and private cooperation, and make Taiwan become a smart innovation base in Asia.

        One of the successful experiences of smart city is the "AIoT artificial intelligence internet of things (IOT) platform" built by FET and the Taipei Municipal Government Development Bureau in the social housing of Nangang machinery factory. The platform integrates monitoring, security, environmental control, home automation and other data, and introduces machine deep learning algorithms to optimize services, save energy and reduce carbon. It won the 2021 Smart City Innovation and Application Award, which was awarded by President Tsai Ing Wen on March 23. On the same day, other innovative application services such as "innovative smart transportation: Taipei Xinyi Road self-driving bus" of Taipei municipal government and "Taipei smart water meter promotion strategy" of Taipei water supply department were also awarded. FET participated in these services and acted as the innovation promoter of smart city.

        This time, FET presented two solutions to assist urban governance with AI technology. Among them, "AI intelligent traffic management" makes use of AI image recognition and integrates with Internet of things (IOT) to improve the traffic chaos such as illegal parking in front of stations, illegal lane change and cars and motorcycles driving on the sidewalks, which will improve the safety. It has effectively improved the back-up of traffic caused by the arrangement of taxis in front of the railway station in Tainan City; “AI noise detection” integrates noise meters, anemometers, cameras and other devices, which have been approved by the Bureau of Standards and Inspection and the Environmental Protection Administration. It is verified that in the future, with AI image recognition and noise measurement technology, it can help the county and municipal governments to improve the noise problem caused by high noise vehicles and improve the quality of people's living environment.

        FET’s exhibition also included "smart transportation" and "smart tourism" applications that can instantly monitor traffic and people flow which help to improve road congestion and tourist congestion, as well as "smart manufacturing" solutions such as access control and industrial safety. The "smart retail" application also includes multi-point operation management and cold chain logistics management.

        It is worth mentioning that on March 24 this year, FET and on-site industry jointly announced the establishment of the "5G smart pole standard promotion alliance". In the future, through the "smart co pole" solution presented in this exhibition, it will join hands with alliance partners to connect the smart pole industry chain, show the strength of 5G and IOT, seize the blue ocean business opportunities of global 5G smart pole.
