Exploring the Wonderful Land of Multiculturalism - Singapore
Oriental Securities Corporation / Wang Weiting
Singapore is an island nation located in Southeast Asia. Although it is not large in size, it brings together diverse cultures of Chinese, Malay, Indian, and other ethnic groups. The city not only has modern skyscrapers, but also preserves many historic buildings, perfectly blending the past and the present. It is definitely worth a visit.
Symbols of Singapore: Night View of Merlion Park and Clark Pier
The "Merlion" is a virtual animal with a fish body and lion head, where the lion head represents Singapore's original name - Lion City, and the fish tail is because Singapore is an island. It is not only a landmark of Singapore, but also symbolizes the maritime background and heroic spirit of Singapore as a port city. We took a photo at Merlion Park with the Golden Sands Hotel shining across the Singapore River as the background.
After nightfall, we took a stroll at Clark Pier. This is a famous entertainment district in Singapore, where the lights and colorful buildings along the river complement each other, creating a romantic atmosphere. Taking a cruise ship, you can also enjoy the city's night view from the river and experience the charming charm of the city.
Exploring the cultural essence of Singapore: Little India, Arabia, and Chinatown
Singapore is a collection of diverse cultures, and this time we specifically explored three representative cultural regions. First, let's go to the Little India area, where colorful buildings and a dazzling array of Indian goods make people feel like they are in the South Asian subcontinent. We visited the Vilamakaraman Temple, known for its rich carvings and colorful roofs, to experience the religious art of Hinduism up close.
Then go to the Arab District, which is the Islamic cultural center of Singapore. The shops on both sides of the street sell all kinds of perfume and handicrafts. The Sudanese Muslim Church attracts tourists with its golden dome. We strolled through Haji Lane and admired the famous graffiti wall in the area.
The last stop is Chinatown in Singapore, which is full of traditional Chinese cultural atmosphere. We visited the solemn Buddha Tooth Temple Longhua Temple, which is an important Buddhist temple in Singapore. At night, the streets are filled with a dazzling array of souvenirs and snack stalls, creating a strong atmosphere that makes us feel like we have traveled back to the ancient Chinese settlements.
Family Shared Paradise: Sentosa
Sentosa Island is a vacation destination in Singapore, with various entertainment facilities that allow our whole family to spend a day full of laughter.
Firstly, I experienced the Skyline Luge slope roller coaster, which combined with the activity of the roller coaster and aerial suspension chair, undoubtedly a perfect combination of speed and excitement. Later, I visited S E. A. Aquarium, one of the largest oceanariums in the world, showcases tens of thousands of marine creatures, which is truly eye opening.
The evening activity is to enjoy the light and shadow performance of "Wings of Time". This outdoor performance, which combines water, fire, lasers, and music, deeply impressed us with Singapore's creativity and technology.
Shopping Paradise: Orchard Road, Yifeng City, and Xinda City
Singapore has a wide range of shopping options, especially Orchard Road, VivoCity, and Suntech City, all of which are famous shopping districts where luxury brands and affordable goods can be found. We also visited the world's largest fountain, the Fountain of Wealth, in Xinda City, and according to local customs, touched the spring with our right hand, made wishes, and prayed for good luck in the future.
Hidden Beauty: The Green Spiral Stairs of Fukangning Park
Singapore not only boasts bustling urban scenery, but also many natural wonders hidden within the city. Right next to the hotel where we stayed, there is a hidden check-in spot called the "Green Spiral Staircase" in Fukangning Park. The stairs are surrounded by dense trees, and sunlight shines through the gaps between the leaves, creating a stunning light and shadow effect.
Diversified cuisine: Each dish is filled with unique flavors of local culture
Singapore's signature cuisine is a major attraction for tourists, such as the famous pine nut bone tea, which has a strong pepper aroma paired with fresh and juicy pork ribs, making it very warm to the stomach; The Malaysian style Fengxiang Meat Bone Tea tasted in Yifeng City is also unique, with a strong herbal soup base and a faint aroma of Chinese medicine, similar to Taiwan's medicinal stewed pork ribs; In addition, there are dry pot meat and bone tea, pig offal fried Congee, etc.
As for the Victorian style old bazaar, it is a historical building with over 120 years of history, gathering various common food and snacks from Malaysia, India, Indonesia, China, Thailand, etc., making it difficult to choose. We specially ordered Fujian shrimp noodles and stir fried rice noodles, among which Fujian shrimp noodles are based on rich shrimp head oil and delicious shrimp soup, and every bite can feel the taste of the sea and fresh shrimp. It is worth mentioning that the satay street next to the old bazaar is only closed at night, and the charcoal grilled skewers have a strong aroma. Whether it is chicken, beef or lamb, every bite can feel the rich flavor of the sauce and the juicy meat.
Minghui Tianji Congee recommended by Michelin is a masterpiece of Singapore's night snack culture. The meat of Tianji is delicate, tender and delicious, which complements the fragrant Congee. Singapore's classic breakfast Kaya Toast is also not to be missed. Kaya sauce made from coconut milk, eggs, and sugar is spread on crispy toast, dipped in half cooked eggs, and paired with a strong cup of coffee or milk tea. It is simple yet unforgettable.
Exploring the Little India and Arab regions is a great opportunity to taste Indian cuisine. We enjoyed Murtabak Indian Pancake at Zam Zam Singapore restaurant. This dish, which wraps lamb or chicken filling in a thin pancake, is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a strong flavor. Paired with rich Biryani Indian rice, it exudes the charm of exotic spices.
Finally, we have to mention the cereal shrimp and chili crab we tasted at Badaotan Fish Shrimp Crab. The shrimp shell of cereal shrimp is fried crispy and wrapped in sweet and fragrant cereal, with a rich and not greasy taste; Chili crab is one of Singapore's signature dishes, with a rich chili sauce and the fresh sweetness of crab meat, making it unforgettable.
