Y. Z. Hsu Scientific Award recognizes 27 research elites from Far Eastern Group for promoting the vision of Taiwan's technology island

        Since its establishment in 2002, the Y.Z. Hsu Scientific Award has awarded 522 awards with a total prize of over NTD 220 million, becoming an important indicator in Taiwan's scientific research community. This year, four major awards were presented: "Y.Z. Hsu Scientific Chair Professor," "Y.Z. Hsu Scientific Paper Award," "Y.Z. Hsu Yuan Ze Chair Professor," and "Y.Z. Hsu Outstanding Professor Award." Among them, the highest honor, "Y.Z. Hsu Scientific Chair Professor," each winner can receive NTD 1.5 million, symbolizing the highest recognition of top scientific research talents. The five lecture winners are Professor Lai Chi huang from Tsinghua University (in the field of nanotechnology), Professor Chen Liangji from National Taiwan University (in the field of information and communication technology), Professor Sun Qingcheng from National Central University (in the field of optoelectronic technology), Professor Qiu Shihua from National Chiao Tung University (in the field of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals), and Professor Xu Taiwen from Ocean University of Taiwan (in the field of green technology). The winners have achieved breakthrough results in their respective fields, demonstrating the energy of scientific research landing and industrial transformation.

                At the ceremony, awards were also presented to recognize the winners of three other major awards: the "Y.Z. Hsu Scientific Paper Award" aims to encourage Taiwanese scholars to continuously improve their scientific research and paper quality. A total of 12 researchers were awarded, showcasing the research energy of Taiwan's academic community in diverse fields; Y. Z. Hsu Yuan Ze Chair Professor "recognizes professors who have served Yuan Ze University for a long time and made outstanding contributions in both teaching and research. Three scholars have won the award; The "Y.Z. Hsu Outstanding Professor Award" recognizes Mr. Yu Xiang Hsu's establishment Yuan Ze University 、 Asia Eastern University of science and technology 、 Far Eastern Memorial Hospital Outstanding teachers and physicians from National Taiwan University Hospital, which collaborates with Far Eastern Memorial Hospital, have also included Tamkang University as a recipient of the award for the first time this year, with a total of 7 awardees receiving this honor.

                In addition to rewarding top academic researchers, the foundation also actively promotes the rooting of science education downwards. Since 2009, the foundation has collaborated with the Physics Department of National Taiwan Normal University to organize the "Yu Xiang Hsu Cup - Taiwan Youth Student Physics Debate Competition (TYPT)", and combined with the international competition system, encourages high school students to conduct physics experimental debates in English, cultivating scientific thinking and expression abilities. The Taiwan representative team, trained by the Foundation and the Physics Department of National Taiwan Normal University, went to Sweden in July this year to participate in the 38th International Young Physicists Championships (IYPT). They stood out among 35 teams and won a silver medal in the international competition. Over the years, they have achieved a total of 2 gold, 7 silver, and 6 bronze medals, demonstrating the research potential and international competitiveness of Taiwan's young generation.

                Vice Chairman of the National Science Council, Chen Bingyu, stated that education and scientific research are important foundations for enhancing Taiwan. He thanked the Yu Xiang Hsu Foundation for its long-term investment in scientific research awards and youth cultivation, and called on more enterprises to participate in scientific research investment to continuously inject momentum into Taiwan's science and education.

        After 23 years of deep cultivation in Taiwan, the Y.Z. Hsu Scientific Award has become an annual event and symbol of honor in the scientific research community. The Yu Xiang Hsu Foundation will continue to promote innovation, gather the energy of industry, government, academia, and research, and enable Taiwan's scientific research achievements to continue to shine on the international stage.
