Far EasTone Telecommunication wins CDP Climate Change Leadership A-level award

        On April 10th, the international environmental non-profit organization CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) held the "CDP Rating Results Taiwan Conference". Far EasTone Telecommunication was awarded the highest level of "Leadership A" in the "Climate Change" category, demonstrating the results of long-term investment in mitigating climate change. Chee Ching President stated that Far EasTone Telecommunication aims to achieve an overall carbon reduction of approximately 35% by 2025 by promoting energy conservation, improving energy management, and introducing low-carbon technologies. The company has also incorporated sustainability principles into its procurement process and systematically promoted supply chain carbon inventory, working together with suppliers to move towards net zero.

        Climate change is not just an environmental issue, but an important risk and opportunity that affects the long-term operation and social responsibility of enterprises. Far EasTone Telecommunication's annual electricity consumption has decreased by more than 49 million kWh compared to the previous year, equivalent to the annual household electricity demand of about 12000 households in towns and villages. The carbon emissions performance of the supply chain has been verified by accountants and has also decreased by more than 5% for two consecutive years. It continues to steadily move towards the comprehensive net zero emissions target by 2048, demonstrating the resilience and sustainable competitiveness of enterprises that integrate climate action into their operations and decision-making systems.

        Far EasTone Telecommunications has received the highest leadership A-level recognition from CDP's "Supplier Partnership Management" for five consecutive years, making it the only telecommunications company in Taiwan to achieve this milestone. It is also the first telecommunications company in Taiwan to pass the SBTi 1.5 ° C short-range target audit, and quickly re passed the net zero scenario audit after the "Far East Asia Merger". It promises to achieve 100% renewable energy use in all IDC, offices, and stores in Taiwan by 2030, and is expected to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions throughout the entire value chain by 2048.

        With the frequent occurrence of extreme weather events, Far EasTone Telecommunication has also incorporated climate risks into its operational decisions. In addition to the core network data center, during the site selection and construction phase, the stores and base stations assess the potential for disasters, refer to the 3D disaster potential map of the National Disaster Prevention and Rescue Technology Center, analyze potential risks such as flooding and mudslides, and continuously strengthen the resilience and operational stability of key infrastructure according to the climate conditions of different locations to ensure stable operation of communication services in extreme weather conditions.

        CDP has been promoting transparent disclosure of environmental and climate information by global enterprises for many years, and its annual evaluation is regarded as one of the important indicators to measure the sustainable performance of enterprises. Only about 4% of enterprises worldwide can receive the highest level of A-level rating every year. This evaluation covers 16 major question groups, and Far EasTone Telecommunication has received the highest A-level recognition in 12 key areas, including environmental policy, climate governance, public policy participation, and industrial cooperation. Coinciding with the 25th anniversary of CDP's establishment, this year we will once again hold a performance evaluation conference in Taiwan to commend companies that have demonstrated high leadership in environmental protection and climate action.

        In addition to receiving high recognition from CDP, Far EasTone Telecommunication has also been selected for the latest "The Sustainability Yearbook 2026" by the international authoritative sustainability evaluation agency S&P Global, ranking first in the global telecommunications industry and among the top 1% of companies in the industry, demonstrating an international level sustainable enterprise pattern and continuously contributing to mitigating global climate change.
