Tactful Disagreement
I’m afraid Stella can’t come today. She’s on a business trip.(恐怕今天Stella不會來了。
Unfortunately, the flight has been cancelled.(很不幸地,飛機已經被取消了。)
三、Sadly(遺憾的、悲傷的、非常的)
- Sadly, I don’t agree. This idea is quite rough.(很遺憾,我並不同意。
- He seems to be sadly lacking in a sense of direction.(他似乎非常缺乏方向感。)
With all due respect, we shouldn’t hold an event this month.(恕我直言,我們不應該在本月舉辦活動。)
Scenario: Sabrina and Alan are talking(情境:Sabrina和Alan在辦公室聊天)
Alan:Good morning, Sabrina. Have you seen the news lately?(Sabrina
Sabrina:Yes, COVID-19 cases are increasing in the West. I don't think they are handling it very well.(有阿。
Alan:I’m afraid I don’t quite agree. COVID-19 caught everyone by surprise, I believe they are doing all they can.(我恐怕不完全認同你的看法。
Sabrina:I hope so. Thank goodness Taiwan learned because of SARS. We are very well- prepared.
Alan:Don’t worry, the virus will disappear in the summer. Then we can all go back to normal.
Sabrina:Unfortunately, that is not proven because they are still fighting the virus in Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines.(很不幸的,這並未被證實,因為新加坡、泰國、菲律賓等國家,同樣也在努力對抗疫情擴散。)
Alan:Oh, I see. Then we should continue to wear masks, no matter what kind. It is better than not wearing any.
Sabrina:With all due respect, I believe surgical and N95 masks are still the best. The masks at normal stores are usually only for dust.(恕我直言,我相信醫療級口罩和N95仍是最合適的。
Alan:You’re right. We should also all do social distancing in order to prevent further spread. Also, the world should know that Taiwan can help.(你說的對。
Sabrina:I’m in total agreement. We should all do our part to fight this.(我完全同意。
