Far Eastern New Century Corporation and Far EasTone Telecommunication won the top 5% honor of "Corporate Governance Supervision"

        Far Eastern New Century Corporation and Far EasTone Telecommunication stood out among 868 listed companies and become the top 5% enterprises, in the 5th "Corporate Governance Appraisal and Supervision" Award Ceremony held by Taiwan Stock Exchange and Taipei Exchange on May 28. Chairman of Financial Supervisory Commission, Gu Lixiong, was the award presenter, Vice General Manager of administration department of Far Eastern New Century Corporation, Cai Minxiong and Chief Financial Officer of Far EasTone Telecommunication, Li Shengmin, respectively, received the award.
As indicated by the SEC, as Corporate Governance Appraisal and Supervision has stepped into the fifth session, the topic of corporate governance appraisal is adjusted every year, and become more and more difficult. Of the hundreds of companies assessed, only 13 enterprises have been listed among top 5% in five consecutive years. Most of them are indicative enterprises or groups with a market value of more than 10 billion yuan. It is quite rare for Far EasTone Telecommunication to rank among them. This honor also shows Far EasTone Telecommunication attaches great importance to corporate governance, actively and diligently to meet high standards, sustainable performance to gain high recognition.
Referring to the principles of corporate governance issued by the International Economic Cooperation and Development Organization (OECD), the "Corporate Governance Assessment and Supervision" formulates a total of 85 indicators in four aspects: safeguarding shareholders' rights and interests and treating shareholders equally", "strengthening the structure and operation of the board of directors", "enhancing information transparency" and "implementing corporate social responsibility" to comprehensively evaluate corporate governance. A total of 1,554 publicly quoted entities, including 868 listed companies and 686 OTC companies, were assessed and supervised in the current session. The final results of the assessment and supervision were published that 43 listed companies and 34 OTC companies were listed among the top 5% of the excellent enterprises.
