Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts announced the appointment of Randy Zupanski to the position of area manager and general manager of Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Taipei, where he was the general manager since January 2018. In this new leadership capacity, Zupanski will also oversee Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Tainan. With over 30 years’ experience in the hospitality industry and various brands in Canada, the United States, the Philippines and China, he is a seasoned hotelier in covering all aspects of hotel operations.
“I am honored to be able to work with both teams in Taipei and Tainan,” said Randy Zupanski. “I really enjoy the dynamic city of Taipei and working with our highly engaged team who continues to strive for excellence, especially now that the hotel is undergoing an exciting enhancement program for the Grand Ballroom while celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. We will further sustain the hotel’s leading position as the classic luxury destination in the market. Equally, overseeing our sister hotel in the historical city of Tainan is the new challenge and I look forward to orchestrating the synergy of the two teams to ensure Shangri-La shines brightly from the north to the south of Taiwan.”
Zupanski brings strategic thinking and great knowledge from his diverse career path. Before rejoining Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, he was the general manager of the Westin St. Francis, one of the most iconic hotels in San Francisco. Prior to this, he was the general manager of the Westin Mission Hills, Palm Springs in California, Shangri-La’s Rasa Ria Resort & Spa, Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia and Fairmont Pacific Rim in Vancouver, Canada.
Zupanski was born in Canada and graduated from London’s Fanshawe College, majoring in hotel and restaurant management. He was subsequently honored with the Distinguished Alumni Award for Business Leadership in 2010. Throughout his career, he has continued his education in the hospitality industry by enrolling in courses and programs at Cornell University, the Hong Kong Wine School and Singapore Management University.#
