Asia Cement Corporation's achievements in recycled economy and occupational safety and health management were recognized again

        The Chung Hua Institution for Economic Research Green Economy Research Center held the 3rd "Taiwan recycled economy award" award ceremony on September 30. Asia Cement Corporation Hualian Plant won the "Product Award - Outstanding Enterprise" and was the cement company that won the award for the first time. Zhang Zhipeng, Vice President and General Plant Manager (Senior Executive Vice President) of Asia Cement Corporation, who attended the ceremony, expressed his gratitude to the judges for their affirmation and let the outside world see the efforts of Asia Cement Corporation in recycled economy. Asia Cement Corporation will continue to follow the United Nations Sustainability Development target SDGs, reduce the input of natural resources and increase the reuse of waste in the production process by integrating the arteriovenous industry, so as to reduce the pressure on the environment.

        Because the combustion environment of the cement kiln is characterized by high temperature, long residence time and strong turbulence, it can use a variety of wastes or resource-based products to replace limestone, clay, silica sand, iron sand and other raw materials, reducing the amount of natural ore mining. Wastes with calorific value can not only replace coal, but also handle wastes and reduce the consumption of natural minerals. Asia Cement Corporation participated in the competition with three products, namely, Portland cement clinker, Portland cement and plastering cement, to fulfill its commitment to become a model factory of recycled economy.

        In addition to giving priority to the disposal of waste from Hualien County government and local industries, Asia Cement Corporation Hualien Plant also makes good use of its cement processing capacity and actively develops opportunities for cross industry cooperation. Although the transportation of waste treatment equipment purchased from abroad was once affected by the epidemic, we still worked together to gather all professional colleagues in machinery, electrical equipment and manufacturing to develop and build the required equipment. According to statistics, from 2019 to 2021, Asia Cement Corporation Hualian Plant has assisted in processing about 730000 tons of waste or resource-based products as alternative raw materials and fuels for cement manufacturing, which is equivalent to reducing the mining and consumption of about 730000 tons of natural ores and coal resources, and the use of alternative raw materials and fuels will increase year by year in the future.

        In addition, Asia Cement Corporation is committed to the development and promotion of low-carbon cement. Taking mud as a special bagged plastering cement as an example, it not only has the characteristics of good construction and crack resistance, but also can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 18%. At the same time, Asia Cement Corporation also contributed to the revision of the national standard of CNS 15286 "Hydraulic Mixed Cement". By reducing the proportion of clinker in cement, the product can maintain the established quality, meet the national standards and significantly reduce carbon emissions.

        In the face of the global wave of net zero carbon emissions, Asia Cement Corporation will continue to build a complete recycled economy model leading the industry, and expects the government to encourage public works to use low-carbon cement, industry, government and academia to work together to build a green low-carbon home.
