Far Eastern Memorial Hospital wins the first "Sustainable Hospital Award" in New Taipei City

        On November 10th, the New Taipei City Health Bureau announced the winners of the 12th Medical Public Welfare Award, Far Eastern Memorial Hospital not only won one "Medical Education Research Award", two "Medical Contribution Awards", and two "Medical Service Contribution Awards", but also received the newly added "Sustainable Hospital Award" at this year's event, demonstrating its impressive achievements in medical services and sustainability development.

        Qiu Yanlin, Section Chief of the Medical Research Department, has experienced the rapid changes in medical technology and disease types during his clinical services. Therefore, he continues to devote himself to research and is committed to promoting the development of precision medicine. Through teaching and sharing research results, he cultivates a new generation of medical professionals and has won the "Medical Education Research Award".

        Liang Zhaoxuan Section Chief of the Children's Department established the first child protection center in New Taipei City to speak out for abused children and provide long-term care. During the COVID-19, he quickly set up the first "Children's Quarantine Clinic" and "Children's COVID-19 Follow up Clinic" in Taiwan, set up a special ward for children, provided comprehensive medical care for children, and won the "Medical Contribution Award".

        Sun Rentang, Chief of the Emergency Surgery Department of the Emergency Medicine Department, actively promotes the key emergency ultrasound technology and invests in the construction of emergency systems to improve the pre hospital emergency medical process, significantly enhancing the effectiveness of patient treatment. At the same time, he promotes the system of end-of-life wishes and increases the success rate of organ donation. Representing Taiwan in multiple international emergency and trauma studies, promoting international medical cooperation, and winning the "Medical Contribution Award".

        Zhou Chengfa, an inspector in the Department of Anatomy and Pathology, recalled a duty experience 35 years ago. At that time, he called on the public to donate blood through broadcasting, and collected a total of 12000 milliliters of blood, successfully saving a patient in urgent need of blood transfusion. This experience made him realize that every member of the medical team is an indispensable part, and he firmly believes that the unity and cooperation of the team can make patients feel the original intention of doctors to save lives and heal the wounded. With this belief, he motivated himself and won the "Medical Service Contribution Award".

        Lin Xinyi, a counselor and psychologist from the Family Medicine Department, actively collaborates with cross disciplinary medical teams to improve the overall quality of care and participates in quality improvement activities. She continuously innovates care models and explores how to fully accompany patients on their final journey of life. She has been awarded the "Medical Contribution Award".

        In April of this year, Far Eastern Memorial Hospital and the New Taipei City Government jointly signed the "Hospital Sustainability Development Initiative", which aims to meet the needs of internal and external customers and the social environment through practices such as environmental protection and community care. It won the first "Sustainable Hospital Award" and is fully committed to achieving the goal of net zero emissions by 2050.
