The Business Weekly "AI Innovation Top 100" award ceremony was held on January 22. This selection focused on real-world enterprise AI applications and attracted a total of 445 submissions. After a rigorous 120-day evaluation process conducted by 36 experts from industry, government, and academia, Far Eastern New Century (FENC) stood out as one of the 98 final honorees.
Led by Humphrey Cheng, President of Corporate Management, FENC was recognized for its initiative: " In-house Development of the AIFE Platform: Innovating Internal Control and Sustainable Risk Governance." This honor marks FENC’s third major AI award, following two national-level AI competitions in 2025.
Capabilities Validated Through External Competitions
Through long-term strategic investment and cross-domain deployment, FENC has earned consistent recognition across multiple AI evaluations, achieving a notable record of three major awards:
- May 2025: Best AI Awards. In this competition, organized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) featuring 1,253 teams from 36 countries, FENC received an Honorable Mention in the Enterprise Category. With a winning rate of only 7.4%, FENC was the only traditional manufacturing company to be awarded that year.
- November 2025: GenAI Stars: Generative AI Applications Across Industries Hosted by the Ministry of Digital Affairs, FENC was honored with the Rising Star Award, ranking in the top 7.8% of 269 cross-industry teams. The award recognized FENC’s practical integration of AI into enterprise operations.
- January 2026: Business Weekly "AI Innovation Top 100" This selection emphasized commercial value and transformational impact. FENC’s inclusion alongside leading companies demonstrates the maturity and real-world viability of its AI applications.
Creating Value Through Internal Use Cases
To drive digital transformation while meeting the stringent risk management requirements of a publicly listed company, FENC’s Corporate Management team adopted a dual-track strategy of "In house-development and Internal Empowerment." By organizing internal AI Hackathons, the company embraces the philosophy that "those who best understand the problem are best positioned to solve it." Employees from various departments defined AI use cases directly within their operational contexts, progressively deploying the AIFE platform across Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Legal, Shipping, Secretarial, and Information security functions. This initiative has transformed labor-intensive processes into intelligent value creation, enabling AI to evolve into a cross-departmental digital assistant and decision-support engine.
AIFE: Not Just "AI Far Eastern," but "AI For Everyone"
FENC’s AI transformation is the result of deliberate, long-term strategic planning driven by its core leadership. Since February 2023, President Humphrey Cheng has spearheaded the "Corporate AI Mobilization" plan to elevate AI into a core digital engine. At the heart of this change is —AIFE (AI Far Eastern), the modular AI platform independently developed by Corporate Management. The name embodies the philosophy of "AI For Everyone," with the mission of "enabling professionals to accomplish extraordinary outcomes using simple tools," making AI an accessible productivity enabler for every employee.
Advancing the Dual Strategy: AI + Governance
Looking ahead, FENC is committed to Responsible AI under globally recognized frameworks, aligning with ISO 42001 and the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF), while actively supporting Taiwan’s Artificial Intelligence Basic Act. The company upholds seven core principles: sustainability, human autonomy, privacy protection, cybersecurity, transparency, fairness, and accountability. Future initiatives include enhanced reuse of internal control data, advanced risk analytics, and cross-border value chain applications. Simultaneously, FENC continues to empower "citizen developers" through Vibe Coding and elevate individual productivity via Deep Research capabilities. By integrating people and technology, FENC accelerates its vision of a "Digital Far Eastern," ensuring AI serves as an extension and amplifier of human judgment and creativity.
