The first "Grassroots Training Station for Deaf Basketball Players in Taiwan" was unveiled on April 12th at the Asia Eastern University of Science and Technology Indoor Gymnasium. The school will work together with the Deaf Sports Association and the Sports Department to create a more comprehensive training environment for deaf basketball players and implement the concept of sports equality.Principal Huang Maoquan's emotional review shows that 58 years ago, founder Yu Xiang Hsu was visionary and invested NT $3-4 million to build a sports arena, which was an extremely advanced sports facility at the time. On March 1, 1965, Taiwan's first institutionalized Oriental Petrochemical (Taiwan) women's basketball team sponsored by a commercial enterprise was established, which had a pioneering position in the history of Taiwan's women's basketball development. What is even more touching is that coaches Deng Bizhen and Deng Biyun have been taking players to the Oriental Petrochemical (Taiwan) sports arena for training, learning, and training since 2000, and have never stopped along the way. Principal Huang emphasized that today's unveiling ceremony symbolizes the beginning of another mission for this sports arena, and the school will invest more resources to support the movement for the hearing-impaired.
