October 20 is the 70th anniversary of Far Eastern Group's founding in Taiwan. Over the years, with a view to the world and a foothold in Taiwan, the Group has extended its tentacles to many countries in Asia, America and Africa, with its business being operated in more than 10 industries. On this important day, let's look back on the past year (September 2018 - August 2019), which new forces have joined, important milestones, impressive public welfare, and the glorious deeds of Far Easterners.
September 2018 _Far Eastern Polytex (Vietnam) completed the 400,000-ton PET expansion project. Among them, the first production line of SSP and CP was officially launched, which was the first large-scale production line of Far Eastern Group located in the upstream of chemical fibers in Southeast Asia. _Asia Cement Corporation and U-Ming Marine Transport were named to FTSE 4Good Index Series. Establishment of Indonesian Ya Tung Ready-Mixed Concrete Corporation and obtain the company's business license which expanded the group’s ready-mixed business. _Far Eastern Department Store was awarded the "Innovation Excellence Award" by Retailers Association of Chinese Taipei in 2018 with the energy management plan. _A. Mart responded to the evaluation of Green Cycle Store, branches in Sanzhong, Nanya and Yonghe won five-star, four-star and three-star awards respectively. _Far EasTone Telecommunication has been selected as "The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices, DJSI Emerging Markets" for three consecutive years. The mobile service APP also won the “Best Digital Experience Award”, and is the only winner in Taiwan's telecommunications industry. _Chairman Douglas Hsu was selected as "Top 50 Taiwan Executive Officers in 2018" in “Harvard Business Review” with the ranking of Far EasTone Telecommunication (No.10) and U-Ming Marine Transport (No. 37). _Far Eastern International Bank was awarded the "Best Wealth Management Bank of Taiwan Award" by “The Asset”, a financial magazine. _Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Taipei was awarded the first place of “Best Business Hotel in Taipei” by “Business Traveller Asia-Pacific”.
_Yuan Ze University participated in "2018 Taiwan Innovation Technology Expo" and won 2 gold and 2 silver medals. Oriental Institute of Technology also won 1 gold, 5 silver, 2 copper medals and the highest honor "Platinum Award".
_Far Eastern Memorial Foundation held "Far Eastern Group Far Eastern Architectural Young Talent Award" ceremony and international architectural lecture.
October 2018 _U-Ming Marine Transport held a ceremony for the Panamax bulk carrier “Cemtex Diligence” with a load of 82,200 metric tons.?? _Far Eastern New Century Corporation was selected as the "500 Best Employers in the World" by “Forbes”. _Far Textile Industry (Wuxi) was awarded the title of "Innovative Cotton Textile Enterprise with Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction". _Far Eastern Electronic Toll Collection worked with Jing Chuan Child Safety Foundation to promote the Yellow Hat Traffic Safety Course to protect children's safety.?? _Oriental Petrochemical (Taiwan) was awarded the "Benchmark Enterprise Award for Environmental Protection Equipment Application". _Huanggang Yadong Cement participated in the 16th National Cement Chemical Analysis Contrast in the "Hong Chao Science and Technology Cup" in 2018 and was awarded the "Excellent Unit" Award. _Far Eastern Department Store won the second place in the “department store shopping mall” category in the “15th Best Service Award”, Far EasTone Telecommunication also won the second place in the “4G telecommunications industry” category. _Pacific SOGO Department Store Chairman Sophia C.W. Huang stood out in the first "Top Sustainable Super Women in Asia" selection and became the only winner in Taiwan. _Far EasTone Telecommunication won four awards of "CSEA Excellent Customer Service" in 2018. _Yuan Ze University was selected in "EMBA for Private Schools of 3000 Big Business Managers Most Wanted to Study" of “Cheers”. This year, the total ranking has risen to the No. 7.
November 2018
Asian Finals of "Asian Architectural Young Talent Competition" was held in Taiwan for the first time, which was jointly organized by Far Eastern Memorial Foundation and Department of Art and Design of Yuan Ze University.
_Far Eastern Group was the title sponsor of Fuerza Bruta Wayra, a world-renowned immersion theatre.
_Pacific SOGO Department Store was awarded the "Low Carbon Products Award" by EPD.
_ Eight affiliated enterprises including Far Eastern New Century Corporation, Far EasTone Telecommunication, Asia Cement Corporation, Pacific SOGO Department Store, Far Eastern Department Store, Far Eastern Memorial Hospital, U-Ming Marine Transport and Far Eastern International Bank and so on won the 37 awards of Global Corporation Sustainability Award (GCSA) and Taiwan Corporation Sustainability Award (TCSA), taking the lead among all corporations. Douglas Hsu was also awarded the "Outstanding Person Award".??
_Far EasTone Telecommunication joined the preparatory team of LINE Financial Taiwan Pure E- Bank License Application.
_Far EasTone Telecommunication and Child Welfare League Foundation. R. O.C. promoted the 12th “Spread love without abandoning the orphan” event.??
_Sichuan Yadong Cement was awarded the honor of "No. 76 of Top 100 Manufacturing Enterprises in Chengdu".
_ The official website of “Bankee Community Bank” of Far Eastern International Bank was officially launched.??
_Far Eastern Memorial Hospital won four awards of the “7th New Taipei Medical Public Welfare Award” and three certifications of the “2018 SNQ National Quality Mark” and also won "Excellent Award for Selection of Health Hospitals in 2018"by the Bureau of National Health of the Ministry of Health and Welfare. In addition, Vice President Qiu Guanming was awarded the 15th National Innovation Award - Clinical Innovation Award.
December 2018 _Far Eastern Department Store won the recognition of “National Sustainability Development Award”.??
_Far Eastern Big City Shopping Mall was awarded the second "Buying power - the social innovation product and service procurement incentive mechanism" special prize by Ministry of Economy.
_Pacific SOGO Department Store was awarded the "Enterprise Environmental Protection Award" by the Environmental Protection Department of the Executive Yuan, and it was the only department store winner during the 27th session. It also won the first prize of "National Brand E. SUN Award - Best Popular Brand Category".
"Far Eastern Group Food Talent Competition” co-sponsored by Pacific SOGO Department Store, Pacific Chongguang Cultural and Educational Foundation, Far Eastern Memorial Foundation and California Dairy Association held the final to cultivate top caterers.??
_Far EasTone Telecommunication won the Ministry of Transport's "Construction of Intelligent Transport Project Evaluation Supervisor" Excellence Award and the "Taipei First IoT Energy Conservation Competition Gold Award". It also won the first prize of 16th “Global Views Five-Star Service Award" for telecommunications industry.
_Far Eastern Memorial Hospital established Taiwan's first "minimally invasive valve center".??
_Oriental Institute of Technology participated in the “14th Seoul International Invention Exhibition” and “2018 Kaohsiung KIDE International Invention and Design Exhibition” and won 3 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Copper, and 4 Gold, 3 Silver and 2 Copper medals respectively. And it was registered as AWS Educate Institutions on Amazon, and was invited to be partner of “AWS Startup Day” in 2018.
January-February 2019 _Far EasTone Telecommunication cooperated with CNPC to build Taiwan's first "Taiwan CNPC Smart Green Energy Gas Station - Jiayi Demonstration Station".??
_Jiangxi Yadong Cement was listed in the national list of green mines.
_Chiahui Power Corporation obtained the second phase extension work permit.
_Oriental Institute of Technology participated in the "2019 Thailand International Invention Exhibition" and won 2 gold, 3 silver and 1 copper medal, with winning rate of 100%.??
_Far Eastern New Century Corporation got the recognition of ISPO Top 10 best Accelerated Eco material and four selected products of "ISPO Selection" in the "ISPO MUNICH" sports and outdoor goods exhibition, the smart clothes won 2019 ISPO Brandnew Winner.
_Far EasTone Telecommunication won the Best Progress Award of the Global Telecommunications Service Industry Group in Robeco SAM's "2019 Sustainable Annual Surveillance", which was the only winner in telecommunications industry in the world, and received the Copper Award.
March 2019 _Yuan Ze University celebrated the 30th anniversary of the founding of the school.??
_Far Eastern Dyeing & Finishing (Suzhou) won the title of "Advanced Enterprise of Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction" in 2018.
_Far Oriental Union Chemical Corporation (Yangzhou) was awarded the "Top 100 Industrial Enterprises" of Jiangsu Province and the second "Zifeng Award" of Jiangsu Province as a growing enterprise.
_Far Eastern Y.Z.Hsu Science & Technology Memorial Foundation held "Y.Z.Hsu Cup - The Eleventh Taiwan Young Student Physics Debate Competition", and Taiwan team was selected to participate in the IYPT International Competition held in Poland, and finally won the bronze medal.??
_Far Eastern Department Store established the "real-time energy performance indicator platform", which was the first department store in Taiwan to introduce this system.
_HAPPY GO was awarded the 19th "Jinfeng" Award for "Top Ten Outstanding Enterprises" and "Outstanding Commodities".
_Far Eastern International Bank was awarded three awards for wealth management, including "Best Wealth Appreciation", "Best Management Team" and "Best Creative Marketing Video and Audio Award ".
April 2019 _Far Eastern New Century Corporation and Asia Cement Corporation were re-elected to the list of Taiwan Sustainability Indices.??
_Asia Cement Corporation collaborated with udnFunLife Co., LTD to introduce the "Action Art Promotion" project of Pompidou Center in Paris, France. The first stop was from Hualien.
_Far Eastern New Century Corporation, Far EasTone Telecommunication and Pacific SOGO Department Store were awarded the First Prize of “Traditional Industry”, the Model Prize of “Telecom Services” and the Model Prize of “General Services” in the 15th Global Views Corporate Social Responsibility Awarding Ceremony. Far Eastern New Century Corporation and SOGO Department Store also won the Model Award of "Environment Friendly" and the Model Award of "Education Promotion" in the selection of outstanding programs.??

May 2019 _Asia Cement Corporation and Pacific SOGO Department Store were awarded the "Green Leadership Awards" of AREA Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards in 2019.Far Eastern Big City Shopping Mall also won the "Social Public Welfare Development Award".??
_Far Eastern New Century Corporation and Far EasTone Telecommunication were listed in the top 5% of the listed companies of the Stock Exchange "Corporate Governance and Supervision".
_Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Tainan held the “5th Fucheng Run Up Competition" and NT$559,161 raised in the competition was donated to Tainan Fund for Children and Families.??
_Pacific SOGO Department Store and Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Taipei signed the Convention on Cherishing Food in response to the Taipei’s plan.
_Far EasTone Telecommunication was awarded the “Best Innovative Community Media Strategy” of Asia Communication Award.
_Far Eastern International Bank’s "Far Eastern Group Top Happiness Card" came to the market.
_Far Eastern International Bank sponsored the Taiwan Connection "Midsummer Music" concert and invited teachers and students from 10 schools in the remote areas to enjoy classical music.
_Oriental Institute of Technology participated in the 30th Malaysian ITEX International Invention Exhibition and won 3 Gold, 5 Silver and 3 Special Awards.
_Far Eastern Memorial Hospital cooperated with International Cooperation and Development Fund again in Nicaragua's "Enhanced Program for the Prevention and Treatment of Chronic Kidney Diseases" after Belize, and won the "International Gold Prize of Global Smoke-Free Hospital".
June 2019 _U-Ming Marine Transport held a naming ceremony for the Panamax bulk carrier " "Cemtex Diligence" with the load of 82,200 tons.??
_Far Eastern New Century Corporation acquired Phoenix Technologies International LLC, a green recycling company in Ohio, USA, with an annual production capacity of 36,000 tons of recycled ester pellets.
_Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Taipei worked with "Marie Claire" to hold a wedding dress design contest, "Final Battle - Where is My Perfect Wedding Dress".??
_Oriental Resources Development signed the “Recycling and reuse of marine discarded PET bottles” with Taoyuan Municipal Government while Far Eastern New Century Corporation assisted in spinning discarded Bottles into environmentally friendly products.
_Far Eastern Apparel (Suzhou) cooperated with Henan Fort Giant to launch domestic trade production base project.
_Oriental Petrochemical (Shanghai) accumulated 0ver 6 million safe working hours with contractors, which is the best record since its operation.
_Far EasTone Telecommunication, Pacific SOGO Department Store and City'super were all awarded the Gold Prize of " 2019 Taiwan Service Industry Supervisor" by the Business Times.
_HAPPY GO and Japan DOCOMO launched the first cross-border cumulative point service for mobile App in Taiwan.
_Far Eastern International Bank’s “Bankee Community Bank” was awarded the “Best Innovative Business Model Digital Bank” Award.
_Yuan Ze University ranked in the top 200 in the world in the World University Academic Ranking survey because of the outstanding performance in the field of finance and No.3 in the whole Taiwan.
July 2019 _U-Ming Marine Transport, Taiwan Electric Power Company, Kuang Ming Shipping Corp., KAWASAKI KISEN KAISHA, Ltd. (Japanese merchant K-LINE) establish a shipping company. _Far Eastern International Bank was awarded "Best Brand Image" and "Best Wealth Management" of "Excellent Bank Evaluation in 2019”. In addition, cross-border financial business was awarded "Best Syndicated Loan Host Banking Award of the Year" by the International Journal of Finance and Economics “FinanceAsia”. _Oriental Petrochemical (Shanghai) Corporation won the title of "National Green Manufacturing Factory".
_Far Eastern Memorial Hospital participated in Ministry of Health and Welfare’s "Hospital Quality Performance Measurement Index System and Implement of Quality Improvement Program" and won the "Best Team Award of the Year". _Far Eastern Electronic Toll Collection’s "Far Eastern Electronic Toll Collection Shop Manager" has entered its fourth session, sponsored children from five charities were invited to help to promote transportation knowledge. _Far EasTone Telecommunication held the “FET Little Superman Digital Online Competition” by PaGamO, an online game learning platform. Nearly 1,000 students participated in it.
