Pacific SOGO Department Store won the "Energy Saving Benchmark Award" of the Ministry of Economic Affairs

        Pacific SOGO Department Store is active in energy conservation and carbon reduction. It won the "Energy Saving Benchmark Award" of the Ministry of Economic Affairs on December 9, 2019. It is one of the 22 award-winning enterprises among the 108 competitors and the only department store retailer on the list and the first winner in the department store in 10 years.

        In recent years, SOGO Department store has actively invested in building "the first green department store in Asia" with good performance in electricity consumption and carbon reduction. Chairman Sophia C.W. Huang pointed out that the daily work of SOGO staff is to internalize CSR spirit and take "sustainable environment" as the main axis of the company to promote energy conservation. With the hope of building the first green department store in Asia, they implement energy conservation and carbon reduction from all aspects, and give full play to the power of the channels to care for the earth.

        ISO 50001 energy management and annual reduction of power consumption by 5%

        To build a green department store, the management mode is very important. SOGO implements internal energy management and control with systematic and scientific management. Since 2018, all stores in Taiwan have managed energy in the spirit of ISO 50001 and actively implemented energy conservation measures.

        With the joint efforts of the whole staff, the public electricity consumption of SOGO has decreased year by year, with a total reduction of 7.27% in 2 years from 2016 to 2018. The revenue generated by each kilowatt-hour of electricity has also increased year by year. In 2018, Fuxing Pavilion obtained the greenhouse gas verification statement. In the future, it can propose reduction measures to gradually reduce carbon emissions.

        In addition, SOGO has also actively planned short, medium and long-term energy conservation and carbon reduction targets, and put renewable energy into use, including the solar power generation system on the top floor of Tianmu store, which will be reused after repair; the construction of solar panel on the top floor of Hsinchu store will be completed soon. SOGO hopes to use this to promote the development of the whole industry in the direction of energy conservation, educate millions of customers every year about the importance of reducing the carbon emission in the shopping process.

        Leading in the department store retail industry in reducing carbon by nearly 25% in three years

        In 2015, in the process of applying for "carbon label", SOGO defined the PCR for the retail service industry of department stores, so that all 800000 related businesses in the whole Taiwan can calculate their carbon emissions and make their own carbon reduction plans. Then SOGO Tianmu store achieved the first "carbon reduction label" among the whole department store retail service industry in 2018 with the performance of reducing carbon by nearly 25% in three years. SOGO expects that in 3-5 years, in addition to continuous implementation of carbon reduction, at least 2 branches can obtain carbon labels / carbon reduction labels.

        As an important channel, Chairman Sophia C.W. Huang said that SOGO will continue to make good use of industrial characteristics, work with customers, counters, suppliers, communities and other stakeholders, so that the concept of energy conservation can be deeply rooted in people's minds and have a positive impact.
