Tainan Far Eastern Department store donated traditional Chinese rice-puddings to the disadvantaged families in Xibei district

        Since Huang Weizhe, Mayor of Tainan City, was worried that the COVID-19 would have an impact on the disadvantaged families, he and Tainan Far Eastern Department store donated 400 rice dumplings during the Dragon Boat Festival. The Tainan Fund for Children and Families, which has been committed to helping the disadvantaged children in Xibei area, assisted in distributing the rice dumplings to 80 disadvantaged families. On June 26, Mayor Huang personally issued a certificate of gratitude to affirm the love of Tainan Far Eastern Department store.

        Xu Junming, manager of Tainan Far Eastern Department Store, said that far Eastern Department Store has been fulfilling corporate social responsibility for many years. Since 2018, they have been donating clothes, participating in volunteer activities and sending gift boxes to the disadvantaged families or institutions during festivals every year. At the beginning of this year, they worked with international enterprises to donate clothes to children in Tainan. In view of the decrease in donations from social welfare units due to the epidemic this year, it is hoped that more enterprises will respond to the public welfare through this donation activity.

        According to the Social Bureau, Tainan Fund for Children and Families has been entrusted by the Social Bureau to handle the work of protecting children and recruiting foster families. In addition to the social welfare work commissioned by the government, Tainan Fund for Children and Families has been working hard in Xibei district to provide support services for the disadvantaged families. Tainan Fund for Children and Families spares no effort in providing services for the disadvantaged, such as the charity material bank, the economic assistance for the disadvantaged families, and the irregular counseling, assistance and entertainment activities for the disadvantaged children. The Social Bureau also thanked the Tainan Fund for Children and Families for the resources and assistance injected by them, so that the disadvantaged people in the northern Tainan area can receive more care.

        Mayor Huang Weizhe adheres to the concept of "giving priority to the disadvantaged" in his administration. In this Dragon Boat Festival, he took the initiative to connect caring enterprises and disadvantaged families.
