FET signed a letter of intent on cooperation with Kaohsiung Municipal Government

        The power of FET’s 5G is affirmed again! FET was invited by the Kaohsiung Municipal Government to join the "Kaohsiung 5G smart city" industry alliance. On September 26, FET president Chee Ching and Mayor Chen Qimai of Kaohsiung City signed a letter of intent on 5G cooperation, announcing that they would jointly build an open cooperation platform “industrialization of 5G".

        According to FET president Chee Ching, Kaohsiung is an important city in Taiwan's 5G development because of its excellent strategic position for industrial development, meanwhile it owns port area, international airport and it aims at Southeast Asian market. FET is honored to be the partner of Kaohsiung in 5G development, and will join hands with Siemens, Industrial Technology Research Institute and the local enterprises in Kaohsiung in the future to take the public service fields such as Kaohsiung business districts, port area, industrial and trade parks and start-up base as the verification field of 5G service R & D, test run and business model test, and spread the achievements to industries and related applications, accelerate the cooperation with international corporations, and realize the vision of becoming a 5G smart city.

        President Chee Ching also said that FET’s advantages in bandwidth and spectrum location obtained in 5G bidding can provide users with the spectrum resources of dream flagship; in terms of technology, it is also based on the long-term deep cultivation of "big data + AI + IOT" which will help Kaohsiung give full play to its industrial energy, jointly promote Taiwan's industrial innovation and upgrading, and build Kaohsiung into a scientific, convenient and smart city.

        FET and Kaohsiung Municipal Government will be committed to building a test field for smart technology innovation in the Asia new bay area, such as combining with friDay VR, friDay video to promote smart tourism and create 5G video streaming experimental field; Asia new bay area can also use 5G characteristics of broadband and low latency to become a remote controlled smart port.

        Zeng Shiyuan, executive vice president of FET enterprise and international business group, also talked about the new business opportunities of 5G industry after its implementation in Kaohsiung with Erdal Elver, President of Siemens, and Chen Liwei, deputy director of Industrial Technology Research Institute.
