FET, FEMH, New Taipei municipal government and National Health Research Institutes(Taiwan) jointly opened the first 5G diabetes continuous remote medical care application in Taiwan

        On November 28, FET and Far Eastern Memorial Hospital jointly announced that they would join hands with the New Taipei municipal government and the National Health Research Institutes (Taiwan) to launch the first 5G diabetes telemedicine care service in Taiwan. Specialist physicians of FEMH will diagnose remotely via FET network instead of the road, 5G remote diagnosis and treatment application will be introduced into Wanli health center and shiding health center of New Taipei City, so as to reduce the fatigue of a long journey of patients with diabetes mellitus in rural areas.

        FET President Chee Ching said that the New Taipei municipal government has been committed to improving the quality of medical care in rural areas for a long time. FET is honored to cooperate with National Health Research Institutes (Taiwan) and New Taipei city to connect the New Taipei Municipal Health Bureau with Far Eastern Memorial Hospital with 5G communication and cloud technology to improve the convenience of diabetic patients, and then specialists can also take care of more patients, so that medical resources can be spread to all corners of Taiwan.

        FET also said that in remote areas, there is a lack of specialists in metabolism department and ophthalmology department. Wanli health center and Shiding health center make use of 5G communication to combine with advanced IOT medical equipment, then the physicians of the health centers can diagnose with Far Eastern Memorial Hospital specialists together. It not only provides nearby diagnosis and treatment for Wanli and shiding residents, but also helps them avoid going back and forth between home and hospital. Through the accessibility of fundus screening, early detection and early treatment can be achieved, and the risk of blindness in diabetic patients can be reduced.

        At the same time, the service is also combined with diabetes remote health education care. The diabetes health teachers answer the daily glucose control problems and help them learn self-care skills such as blood glucose monitoring and medication. In the future, the diabetes cases in Wanli and shiding can be measured by NB-IoT blood glucose machine at any time, and the data can be uploaded to the "Health +" cloud platform at any time for patients to self-examine, their families to care for their health status, and to connect with the hospital institutions for remote follow-up care.

        FET has made several firsts in the field of intelligent medical care. At the end of last year, it released the world's first NB-IoT blood glucose machine. This year, it has built the first 5G remote diagnosis and treatment field in Taitung. Now, it has realized the first 5G diabetes medical care service in New Taipei city. In the future, we will continue to inject science and technology into Taiwan's medical environment, so that medical resources can be spread to all corners.
