President Liao Qingrong delivers a speech on the 36th anniversary of Yuan Ze University

        The 36th anniversary celebration of Yuan Ze University is a day that all of us at Yuan Ze University celebrate together. At this joyful and grateful moment, on behalf of the school, I express our sincerest gratitude and respect to all the distinguished guests, board of directors, alumni, faculty, students, and administrative team who care about and support the development of Yuan Ze University.

                Since its establishment in 1988, Yuan Ze University has gradually developed from a young engineering college with 3 departments to a comprehensive university with 6 colleges and 26 departments. Under the leadership of previous principals and the guidance of the board of directors, the faculty and staff uphold the school motto of founder Yu Xiang Hsu, which is "sincerity, diligence, simplicity, and prudence," and are brave enough to accept challenges and pursue excellence. Over the course of 36 years, we have witnessed breakthroughs in academic research, excellence in talent cultivation, deepening of collaboration between industry and school, and expansion of international exchanges, all of which have established Yuan Ze University's important position in higher education in Taiwan.

        Today's Yuan Ze University is a well-known high-quality university both domestically and internationally, with a strong faculty team, excellent research environment, diverse learning resources, and a global educational perspective. Our alumni shine in various industries and make contributions to society.

        It is worth mentioning that our efforts in globalization have shown results, ranking 4th to 7th in Taiwan, second only to prestigious universities such as National Chiao Tung University and National Taiwan University of Science and Technology; The overall ranking of the school has also significantly improved, not only entering the top 1000 in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings in the UK; In the "Taiwan's Best Universities Ranking" by Far sighted magazine, it ranks first among medium-sized universities with a budget of less than NTD 2 billion. These achievements are the result of the joint efforts of all Yuan Ze University staff.

        Currently, the world is facing dual challenges of AI digital transformation and sustainability development, and Yuan Ze University is actively embracing and facing these challenges. We continue to deepen our research in fields such as AI, smart manufacturing, semiconductors, and digital technology, while collaborating with enterprises to cultivate talents that meet the needs of future industries. In addition, the school is constantly striving for carbon neutrality and ESG development. From March 24th to 27th, Yuan Ze University and the European Union jointly held the "Smart Zero Carbon City" forum at Far Eastern Group Shangri La in Taipei. 40 top experts from the EU EAI conference came to Taiwan specifically to participate. We hope to become a leader in promoting sustainability development in Taiwan's higher education sector.

        We are well aware that universities nowadays not only need to cultivate excellent professional talents, but also lead young students to establish correct values, possess global competitiveness and social responsibility. Therefore, Yuan Ze University will continue to deepen "holistic education", allowing students to develop cross disciplinary thinking, global perspectives, and service spirit while learning professional knowledge, and become influential future leaders.

        Looking back at the development over the past 36 years, every step of Yuan Ze University's growth is inseparable from the guidance of the board of directors, the dedication of teachers, the support of alumni, and the efforts of classmates. Here, I would like to express my special thanks to all the hardworking faculty and colleagues. It is your efforts that have enabled Yuan Ze University to continue to develop and move forward courageously! We also want to thank our alumni for their achievements in various fields of society, which are the most precious asset of Yuan Ze University and the driving force for us to continue moving forward.

                Today is not only a moment to review the past 36 years, but also the beginning of looking forward to the future. Let's work together to continue pushing Yuan Ze University to higher levels and create a brighter future together!
