Shizuoka Small Travel

        Although Shimizu is just a small city in Shizuoka, it has two Japanese firsts, including being adjacent to Japan's highest peak, Mount Fuji, and the deepest bay in Japan, Suruga Bay. Junhe Bay is famous for its deep-sea fishing industry, with abundant catches of tuna, cherry shrimp, and goldenrod; In addition, Sanbao Matsubara has a 7-kilometer-long coastal pine forest, which has been selected as one of the "New Three Scenic Spots of Japan" and is also a well-known attraction and world cultural heritage site in Japan. Not only that, Shimizu is also the hometown of Sakurako, the author of the anime "Cherry Maruko" that accompanied us as we grew up.

                Although it takes about an hour by taking the Tokai Shinkansen from Tokyo to Shizuoka and then transferring to JR to reach Shimizu Station, I chose to first take the Suiko train to Atami and then transfer to Shimizu. Although it took a little longer, I like the feeling of slow travel, and on the way, I will pass through important attractions such as the Izu Peninsula and Atami. I can also enjoy the sea and sky in one color and the magnificent Mount Fuji. How enjoyable!

        Leaving Shimizu Station, there is a free shuttle bus from the east entrance to S-Pulse Dream Plaza. The Little Maruko Amusement Park is located on the third floor and can be seen by taking the escalator up. Although the amusement park itself is not large, it has replicated many classic scenes from the animation, including the dining table and kitchen in Maruko's house, as well as her messy rooms, school classrooms, and street scenes from Shimizu District, which made me unable to resist taking pictures.

        In addition to the small meatball amusement park, the limited drainage ditch cover in Qingshui is also a major attraction. Water ditch covers are unique in various parts of Japan, and Shizuoka and Shimizu are not surprised to have cherry meatball patterns. Among them, the manhole covers of Shizuoka Railway's "New Shizuoka Station" and "JR Shimizu Station" were hand drawn and designed by Teacher Sakurako, and of course, they need to be collected; In order to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Shizuoka City sewer project, Shizuoka City has also launched sewer system manhole covers with the small meatball pattern. In the Aoi, Suruga, and Shimizu districts of Shizuoka City, versions featuring small meatballs and good friends with local backgrounds have appeared.

                The next day, we plan to go to Sanbao Songyuan. There are two ways to get to Sanbao Matsu: one is to take a bus from the west exit of Shimizu Station, directly to the entrance of Sanbao Peninsula, and walk along the "Shinno do" to enter Matsubara; The second option is to take the "Qingshui Port Water Bus" that travels between Qingshui and Sanbao routes. There are two locations for taking a boat at Shimizu Terminal, one is near JR Shimizu Station at the Enojiri Pier (approximately a 7-minute walk from the east exit of JR Shimizu Station, also known as the Shimizu Riverside Market), and the other is at the Nippori Exit Pier at S-Pulse Dream Plaza. Both docks have bicycles available for rent, and bicycles can be boarded with passengers.

        I chose to travel by sea to Sanbao Matsubara. Due to the large crowds at the riverbank market at JR Shimizu Station's Jiangjiri Pier, I could only buy some takeaway meals, rent a bicycle from the pier service center, and then take the water bus with excitement. During the driving process, the flying seagulls followed behind, coupled with the blue sky and the scenery of Mount Fuji, it was truly breathtaking. About 15 minutes later, arrive at Sanbao Station. After disembarking, ride your bicycle towards Suruga Bay and you will arrive at Sanbao's coast. Along the way, you can see the towering Mount Fuji in the distance. On the left is the pine trees of Sanbao Songyuan, and on the right is the endless coastline of Suruga Bay. Combined with the sea breeze blowing in the face, it weaves together a dreamlike scenery that is famous all over the world.

        With a reluctant heart, after taking the last boat from Sanbao Pier back to Jiangjiri Pier, the crowd at the Qingshui Riverbank Market has subsided, and finally you can enjoy the delicious seafood of Suruga Bay. First, go to the service center to return the bicycle, and then go to the Qingshui Riverbank Fish Market to find a delicious dinner. Although many shops have already sold out their ingredients and closed early, leaving only a small number of shops open, I met enthusiastic shops on the second floor. I chose to enjoy cherry blossom shrimp cakes, fried oysters, loose sushi, and fried rolls by the sea view side, making up for the regret of not being able to have a good lunch.

        Although Shimizu is a small city, it has delicious food, beautiful scenery, and a small meatball amusement park full of childhood memories, which is worth exploring.
