Xu Yuan Ze University Foundation collaborates with Asia Eastern University of Science and Technology to promote the inheritance of basketball and the spirit of Far Eastern Group founder

        The "High School Basketball Tournament College and Junior High School Vocational Public Welfare Basketball Promotion Activity" jointly organized by Far Eastern Memorial Foundation and Asia Eastern University of Science and Technology kicked off on June 13th and 14th. This public welfare basketball promotion activity combines competition and care, attracting multiple high school vocational teams from all over Taiwan to compete on the same court. We hope to continue Far Eastern Group's founder's original intention of "giving back to society" through the event, so that basketball not only takes root, but also becomes an important medium for community cohesion and practicing the spirit of mutual benefit.

        The opening ceremony was presided over by Principal Huang Maoquan, and guests such as Far Eastern Group Director Xu Guomei, Far Eastern Memorial Foundation Executive Director Dong Lizhen, Alumni Association President Lin Boxiu, and Honorary Director Lin Shiya were present to cheer up the contestants. Principal Huang Maoquan stated that the Oriental Petrochemical (Taiwan) women's basketball team, founded by Far Eastern Group founder Yu Zong Hsu in 1965, was the first team in Taiwan's basketball history to be officially sponsored and institutionalized by a private business enterprise.                 Principal Huang pointed out that from the early Oriental Petrochemical (Taiwan) women's basketball tournament to the annual three on three basketball games held in junior high schools, high schools, and universities across Taiwan, the total number of participating teams exceeds hundreds. At the same time, the school has a grassroots training station for all hearing-impaired basketball players in Taiwan, which is trained by national coaches for a long time and has achieved excellent results. Asia Eastern University of Science and Technology continues Far Eastern Group's corporate philosophy of "sincerity, diligence, simplicity, prudence, and innovation", and concretizes it into the team building concept of "not afraid of failure, perseverance, and team integration", making basketball not only a sports competition, but also a platform for caring for students, the disadvantaged, and consolidating communities.

        Dong Lizhen, CEO of Far Eastern Memorial Foundation, shared that 2026 coincides with the foundation's 50th anniversary. Since its establishment in 1976, the foundation has invested resources every year to support education, culture, arts, and school activities, with the largest sponsorship going to Asia Eastern University of Science and Technology. This year, not only will basketball tournaments be expanded, but we also hope to continue organizing competitions for junior high, high school, and college groups every year, encouraging players to enjoy their youth and compete to the fullest. President Lin Boxiu of the alumni association also extends special thanks to teachers Deng Bizhen and Deng Biyun for their long-term dedication to basketball training, and promises that the alumni association will continue to support basketball activities and promote this meaningful event.
