Recalling the days of lockdown and quarantine

        In March 2022, the COVID-19 broke through the strong fortress of Shanghai, and the metropolis with 25 million people suddenly pressed the pause button. Except for the basic functions, everything stopped. People were confined at home or in the workplace, and the streets were empty, like the end of the day.

                On the evening of March 27, 2022, Shanghai issued a notice that Pudong and Puxi would take turns in lockdown for 3 days. As only 4 hours were left before the official implementation, people began to go on a frenzy of shopping and hoarding; I simply packed my bags and rushed to the workplace, thinking to myself, it's only three days, it's just a business trip.         After entering the factory, I made N phone calls to recall the number of people in one shift to the factory. Including the daily staff, we barely managed to make up two shifts, each rotating for 12 hours. This shift method has never been implemented since the establishment of the factory, and it is very difficult to implement. However, during the epidemic, everyone can only try to endure it as much as possible.

        The sudden lockdown made it difficult for everyone to prepare their food, clothing, housing, and transportation properly. In terms of food and beverage, the general affairs department has made every effort to ensure the supply of three meals a day, but living supplies are still tight. There are occasional occurrences of personal clothing being washed and worn for a day. Fortunately, supplies were later transported from supermarkets outside through food distribution units; In terms of accommodation, except for a few bedding beds brought in from the dormitory, there was nothing else in the factory. Everyone had to find their own office, meeting room, etc. Wherever people could lie down, cardboard or bedding should be used as beds. Later, the safety and environmental protection department brought a batch of inflatable mattresses from a neighboring factory, greatly improving everyone's sleep quality. However, after sleeping for a long time, they also found that the inflatable mattresses caused back pain!

        When basic food and accommodation needs are met, people begin to have small ideals, such as snacks, drinks, and cigarettes. Therefore, the Eight Immortals cross the sea and each shows their abilities. The logistics chain from supermarkets or residential homes to the factory gate has been successfully connected by some people. Although prices have increased significantly compared to before, money is no longer a concern at present.

        During the lockdown period, regular nucleic acid tests are required, mostly in the morning, which is a rare opportunity to leave the factory. After all, people have been stuffy for too long and have become moldy. Occasionally, I see a few broken willow trees by the river, and there is a feeling of brushing against the embankment and getting drunk with spring smoke. It is truly the most comfortable time of the day.

        Production is not interrupted by lockdown, but various auxiliary materials cannot enter the factory, and consumption continues. We calculate our inventory daily, like a stingy person counting money bags every day, afraid that we will use even a penny more. In addition, there are not all kinds of professional personnel in the factory, especially auxiliary personnel, so the operators also do auxiliary work. Originally, everyone was not engaged in physical labor, and it is inevitable that they felt tired, so they can only sigh repeatedly: very special times, very operational, fortunately, colleagues can understand and cooperate.

        Living in the factory, everyone's most cherished thing is still their home, after all, there is basically no need to worry about food and accommodation here. However, every time they hear complaints about food shortages from their families, they are like cows stepping on mud and tiles - anxious and restless. Install all shopping apps on your phone, set an alarm and grab them on time, but hope always feels disappointed and rubbed against the ground, a feeling of powerlessness rising. Later, community group buying emerged, and currency finally realized its value as a medium of material exchange.

        After more than a month, the development zone agreed to rotate personnel in the factory, and everyone went home.

        This period of lockdown and isolation is both unfortunate and fortunate. I have experienced a time of losing freedom and being separated from my family, and my heart has become more and more aware of cherishing it. At the same time, in times of crisis, we witnessed the efforts of the government, the care of the unit for its employees, and the optimistic and empathetic heart that colleagues have always maintained.

        Sincerely hope that the epidemic will disappear soon and life will return to its rightful state.
